Job Description
Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Insurance and Patient Biller to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of medical billing processes, healthcare claims management, and insurance procedures. This role is vital in ensuring accurate billing, efficient claims processing, and timely patient account resolution. The successful applicant will demonstrate strong technical skills, excellent customer service abilities, and a thorough knowledge of medical coding standards to support the financial health of our practice. Duties Prepare and submit accurate insurance claims using billing software, ensuring compliance with coding standards such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications. Manage medical collections by following up on unpaid or denied claims, resolving discrepancies, and appealing rejected claims when necessary. Communicate effectively with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers to clarify coverage details, explain billing statements, and resolve billing issues promptly. Experience Proven experience in medical office billing or healthcare claims management with a strong understanding of medical coding principles including CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and DRG classifications. Familiarity with medical collection procedures and experience working with insurance claim submission platforms. Experience using billing software systems along with EMR/EHR platforms to streamline billing operations. Knowledge of health insurance policies, medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare regulations is essential. Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate complex billing information clearly and professionally. Prior medical office experience is preferred; familiarity with healthcare claims management processes is highly advantageous.
