Full Job Description Job Summary:
The Receptionist/Assistant Medical biller is responsible for managing the front desk of the therapy office, providing a welcoming environment for clients, handling day-to-day administrative tasks, and Medical billing. This position requires a compassionate, patient individual who understands that many of our clients may be navigating mental health challenges and who interacts with every client in a warm, professional, and respectful manner. This position requires excellent communication skills, organizational abilities, independence, excellent computer skills and attention to detail to ensure that clients and therapists have a seamless experience. The Receptionist/Assistant Medical biller will handle all aspects of reception and administrative duties, insurance verification, claims submission, payment processing, and aging claims management, while maintaining a high standard of compliance with healthcare regulations. Additionally, this role supports Northlight's Salem location with some facility related duties to ensure smooth operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Answers the phone at the Northlight office and answers questions or directs phone calls and messages Greets clients upon arrival and answers client questions regarding scheduling, therapist availability, office procedures, HIPAA compliance Verifies patient insurance benefits and answers client insurance questions about their coverage and fees Claim submission, including second insurance Applies client and insurance payments (payment allocation) and reconciles claims and accounts Reviews aging claims under direction of the COO/Assistant Practice Manager, and works on getting aging claims paid Executes payment plans and communicates with clients regarding outstanding balances Making contact with clients regarding past due balances Manages rejected and denied claims, follows agency policy in claim corrections and resubmissions Maintains up to date information and participates in ongoing training regarding Medical Billing Calculate payroll for therapists in accordance to client billing hours Payroll review for clawbacks and corrections Answer therapist questions about payroll numbers Collect payments from clients Daily Insurance verification, for new and existing clients Creates and maintains patients' electronic health records Records and updates demographic and financial information When needed, schedules or reschedules and coordinates patient appointments to optimize client satisfaction and facility efficiency Word processing, filing, information research, shredding, faxing, keeping reception HIPAA compliant, and completing any and all clerical functions Attend ongoing training and courses to keep up to date on new developments in health care, health insurance, and medical billing Comply with organizational guidelines and health care laws and regulations Assist in keeping the office organized and running smoothly Enforce opening and closing procedures/policies Maintain total confidentiality of personal and financial data Directs clients to their destination throughout establishment
Qualifications:
Education:
Associate's degree in Medical administration, Finance, Accounting or a related field preferred.
Experience:
1 year of Receptionist experience required, Medical reception experience preferees and medical billing expereiecne preferred.
