Anew Mind Behavioral Counseling, LLC is seeking an experienced part-time Behavioral Health Medical Biller to manage claims, payments, denials, and accounts receivable for our growing outpatient behavioral health practice in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This is a hybrid position. Most duties may be completed remotely; however, the selected candidate must live in or near Albuquerque and be available to attend occasional in-person meetings, training sessions, billing reviews, and audits. The position will begin at approximately 8-10 hours per week, with the potential for additional hours as our patient census and services grow. Hours exceeding the approved weekly schedule require prior management approval. Responsibilities Review encounters and submit accurate claims promptly Bill mental health IOP, individual therapy, group therapy, psychiatric services, case management, and related behavioral health services Track prior authorizations, approved units, effective dates, and expiration dates Review and correct clearinghouse rejections Investigate denied, unpaid, and underpaid claims Submit corrected claims, reconsiderations, and appeals Post insurance payments and reconcile ERAs and EOBs Maintain accurate accounts-receivable and aging reports Verify patient eligibility and benefits when needed Monitor timely-filing deadlines Identify documentation or credentialing issues that could delay payment Provide weekly reports showing claims submitted, payments received, denials, outstanding balances, and action items Maintain HIPAA compliance and protect patient information Required Qualifications At least two years of medical billing experience Direct behavioral or mental health billing experience Experience billing New Mexico Medicaid/Turquoise Care Knowledge of Medicaid managed-care and commercial insurance billing Experience with claim submission, payment posting, denials, corrected claims, appeals, and accounts receivable Working knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10, modifiers, ERAs, and EOBs Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to work independently and communicate professionally Ability to attend occasional meetings at our Albuquerque office Preferred Qualifications Experience billing mental health or substance-use intensive outpatient programs Experience with CollaborateMD, Therapy Notes, Office Ally, Availity, and payer portals Experience with Optum/UHC, BCBS New Mexico, Presbyterian, Molina, Aetna, and New Mexico Medicaid Familiarity with behavioral health codes, including S9480, H0015, 90791, 90853, 90834, 90837, 99213, 99214, H2015, H0038, and G9003 CPC, CPB, or another recognized billing or coding certification This position is ideal for an experienced behavioral health biller seeking a small, flexible caseload with the opportunity to grow alongside the organization.
