Job Description

Clerk
III FLSA STATUS
Non-Exempt
QUALIFICATIONS
High School graduate and one year of training beyond high school or two years of clerical experience. Minimum typing skill of 35 wpm. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (word processing, spreadsheet, database). Must be able to communicate effectively. Must obtain and maintain a CDL Bus license and drive a bus when called upon to do so.

AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Takes and transcribes dictation, on a variety of matters relating to office activities. Prepares correspondence. Reviews and edits correspondence prepared by staff members, checks for correct grammar, proper format, and necessary attachments. Maintains files of office records and correspondence, requiring the establishment of subject matter groupings in accordance with office needs. Gathers and presents information from files and other sources to the supervisor. Reviews incoming mail for proper distribution purposes. Receives telephone calls and visitors. Provides information regarding school and/or departmental activities and programs. Refers call or visitors to appropriate staff members. Receives routine complaints from the public and refers to proper staff for official review and action. Prepares agenda for office, departmental, or school staff meetings. Takes minutes and follows through on matters requiring correspondence. Prepares assigned reports. Catalogues materials and prepares inventory for such materials. Maintains confidentiality of work-related matters. Obtains and maintains CDL bus license. Completes the pre-trip and post-trip inspection. Drives a bus when called upon to do so while maintaining proficiency in driving skills. Maintains bus route schedule. Maintains discipline and reports undisciplined students to school administration. Discharge students only at authorized stops and transport only authorized students. Complies with local and state traffic regulations and observes all mandatory safety regulations. Reports delays and accidents. Cleans the interior of the bus. Serves as team player and role model for other employees in the organization; demonstrates a commitment to continuous quality improvement; supports and exhibits organizational core values of caring, respect, integrity, responsibility, high expectations, being customer driven, and valuing fairness. Performs other duties and accepts responsibilities as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
: Must be able to communicate orally and in writing with parents, staff, and community leaders. Must have finger dexterity and be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of kneeling, sitting, walking, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, seeing, hearing, and repetitive motion.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Background check with local and state law enforcement agencies required. Must possess a valid North Carolina Driver's License. Applicants must be able to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) when requested for purposes of driving a school bus. REV 04/25
