Job Description
Job Summary Makana Vision is seeking an experienced manager to help lead the day-to-day operations of our growing private optometry practice. This is a hands-on leadership position combining office management, staff supervision, patient flow, and eventually optical leadership . Prior optical experience is helpful but not required . We are willing to invest in optical training for a strong manager who demonstrates leadership, initiative, accountability, and excellent follow-through. We are looking for someone who can eventually become a true operational partner to the practice owner: someone who notices what needs attention, takes ownership of problems, appropriately delegates, follows up, and helps the team perform at a high level without requiring constant direction. Responsibilities Oversee daily office operations, staff coordination, and patient flow Supervise staff and maintain clear expectations and accountability Delegate responsibilities and follow up to ensure work is completed accurately and on time Identify workflow, scheduling, or patient-service problems and proactively work toward solutions Coach, train, and develop employees Help recruit, interview, onboard, and train future team members Ensure office protocols and procedures are followed consistently Monitor the schedule and help ensure appointments are scheduled appropriately Help resolve routine patient and staff concerns independently while recognizing when the doctor needs to be involved Maintain HIPAA compliance and professional handling of patient information Step into different areas of the practice when additional support is needed Use slower periods productively for staff development, schedule review, follow-up, order tracking, inventory, recruiting, and process improvement Learn the optical side of the practice and eventually help oversee optical workflow, sales, orders, and staff performance Optical Training Optical experience is not required for the right management candidate. The person hired will receive hands-on training and may have the opportunity to complete formal optical education.
Training will include:
Understanding vision insurance and optical benefits Frame selection and styling Lens options and recommendations Optical measurements Pricing and ordering eyewear Order tracking and lab follow-up Adjustments, repairs, and dispensing Optical inventory and sales The position will initially begin with data entry and practice systems to build an understanding of Makana Vision's workflow. The employee will then move relatively quickly into optical training. Pretesting and scribing may be learned later so the manager ultimately understands the full patient experience and can effectively lead the entire team. Qualifications Previous management, supervisory, or meaningful team-lead experience required Strong leadership skills and ability to respectfully hold employees accountable Excellent organization, prioritization, and follow-through Proactive problem-solving and ability to recognize what needs attention without constant direction Comfortable delegating and following up with employees Comfortable addressing performance or workflow problems directly and professionally Strong interpersonal and customer-service skills Humble, coachable, and willing to learn established practice systems Comfortable learning optical sales and technical skills Able to remain productive and identify priorities during slower periods Healthcare, medical office, optometry, or optical experience preferred but not required Compensation Starting pay is $26-$28/hour , depending on relevant management, healthcare, and optical experience. Following successful completion of the probationary/training period, compensation may increase based on demonstrated performance, leadership, ownership, and progress in optical training.Pay:
