Full Job Description Scope of Position:
The Greater Akron Chamber (GAC) is seeking a dynamic, organized, and service-oriented individual to serve as Manager, Events and Office Operations. This full-time role supports the coordination and management of GAC facilities, delivers positive experiences for guests, and provides comprehensive support for GAC-sponsored and GAC-run events. The Manager must be proactive, adaptable, and able to respond effectively to changing day-to-day priorities.
Essential Functions:
Event Space Management:
Manage the day-to-day operation and use of GAC's meeting and event spaces for internal meetings, GAC programs, and external/member events. Serve as the primary point of contact for event-space logistics, including scheduling, room configurations and set-up, catering, technology and AV needs, supplies, signage, and onsite execution. Ensure spaces are prepared, professional, welcoming, and reset appropriately following each use. Coordinate billing and related administrative processes for external use of the space.
GAC Event Support:
Provide logistical and administrative support for GAC-sponsored and GAC-run events, working closely with the Events team and other internal staff. Responsibilities may include registration tracking and updates, name badges and materials, catering coordination, room set-up, technology needs, supplies, attendee support, and other pre- and post-event needs. Provide onsite support as needed to help ensure events are well organized and professionally executed.
Office & Facility Management:
Manage the day-to-day operations of the GAC office to ensure a functional, organized, well-stocked, and welcoming environment for staff and guests. Serve as the primary liaison with the building manager and office-related vendors, coordinating maintenance and service needs and resolving facility issues as they arise. Manage office supplies, shared resources, food and beverage inventory, and other operational needs that support the daily functioning of the office.
Vendor Management:
Manage relationships with vendors supporting office and event operations, including maintenance, office equipment, technology, catering, supplies, and other services. Coordinate service needs, maintain strong vendor relationships, troubleshoot issues, and help ensure services are delivered reliably and effectively.
Front Desk & Guest Experience:
Manage the GAC front desk and serve as the primary point of contact for visitors and general inquiries. Greet and assist guests, connect visitors with the appropriate staff member or meeting, answer and manage the Chamber's main phone line, respond to or appropriate route general inquiries, and ensure visitors have professional and welcoming experience. Assigned:
Remain flexible and responsive to evolving organizational needs, including supporting special projects, organizational events, and other priorities identified by the management team. Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines Ability to interact professionally with business and community leaders, event attendees, vendors, and guests Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook; experience with event registration or related systems is preferred Ability to take initiative, anticipate needs, and manage multiple priorities simultaneously Highly organized, resourceful, proactive, and flexible in responding to changing day-to-day needs Strong communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams
OTHER CONSIDERATIONS
: Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Occasionally moves office materials and/or supplies weighing up to 25 pounds throughout the office.
SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS
This is a full-time position. This position is in person, at the GAC office. Additional locations will be local as needed, based on events. Work will primarily occur during standard business hours; however, occasionally early morning, evening, or other off-hours work may be required to support GAC-sponsored and GAC-run events. Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.
Pay:
$55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
