Job Description
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
[25 hours/week | core hours 9:30A - 2:30P] The Church Administrator shall oversee and coordinate the overall function of the church office. This person is employed by the congregation of Advent Lutheran Church and is accountable to the Church Council through the Pastor and the Mutual Ministry Team. Those duties include, but may not be limited to, providing secretarial support for the pastor, staff, congregational council and ministry teams as requested.QUALIFICATIONS
- Self-starter who can multi-task and prioritize projects as necessary
- Willing to work at an appropriate pace within a variety of circumstances with composure and flexibility
- Ability to work independently without supervision
- Respectful and diligent with regard to confidentiality
- Proficiency in word processing skills and use of Microsoft Office
- Typing skills with adequate speed and accuracy
- Proficiency in the use of all office equipment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with a welcoming presence
- High school degree (or equivalent)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the weekly worship services through preparation and editing of various materials/media: o Church bulletins and inserts (and special bulletins as necessary) o Pastor and Assistant Worship binders o Verbal announcements o Updating slides for the Narthex TV
- Prepare, edit, and manage church-wide distribution of the weekly and monthly newsletter - experience with Constant Contact a plus
- Management of the church office email and various vendors
- Maintain church calendar, applicable bulletin boards, directory, membership list and name tags
- Coordinate the use of the church facility and distribution of keys as appropriate
- Provide word processing for the pastor, staff and congregational council leadership
- Routine filing and church database records management
- File weekly copyright reporting for bulletin and livestreamed hymns
- Photocopy reports and other church materials as requested by Pastor, staff and congregational leadership
- Prepare annual report for congregational distribution
- Maintenance and organization of the church office and workroom
- Ordering of all office and building supplies as requested by Pastor, staff and congregational leadership
- Recruit, schedule and train volunteers for temporary office assistance
- Any other duties or responsibilities as assigned or requested by Church staff or leadership
PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL
The Mutual Ministry team will provide a 90-day review for a new hire with input from council leadership, the pastor and congregational members who have regular and direct contact with the person holding this position. After the 90-day review, the Mutual Ministry Team will provide an annual review with input from council leadership, the pastor and congregational members who have regular and direct contact with the person holding this position.Job Type:
