Job Duties:
The City of Virginia Beach Department of Human Services is seeking a talented DHS Transportation Supervisor to provide support to the Transpiration Division. The ideal candidate will have experience supervising a team of 20 more staff as well as previous experience with fleet management, Medicaid programs, and transportation of individuals with disabilities.
Duties:
Ensure delivery of safe, person-centered transportation services in coordination with direct service and supervisory program personnel. Maintain proper, budgeted staffing levels. Hire, train, evaluate and supervise a team of drivers, personal assistants, and office support staff. Review and submit timesheets and leave requests to ensure accurate and timely pay to employees. Oversee Medicaid billing for services and confirm accurate, compliant claims submission. Ensure that all city, state, and department policies and procedures are followed. Develop and oversee an internal system for investigating and reporting client incidents and accidents. Develop and oversee the implementation of Intake and Discharge procedures. Design efficient transportation routes and appropriately staff vehicles on those routes. Manage complex staffing schedule. Work with Fleet Management to ensure that all vehicles received regularly scheduled maintenance and remain in a safe operable state. Participate in annual budget development. Monitor actual activity against budget to meet revenue and expenditure targets. Tactfully, promptly, and effectively receive and respond to citizen complaints. Provide prompt, courteous customer service to internal and external customers. Perform driving duties as necessary. Minimum Requirements:
MINIMUMS
High school or GED plus five (5) years, including one (1) in a supervisory capacity, in fields providing the required knowledge, skills and abilities and associated with such positions as administrative secretary or office manager; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Must be available to work evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime when required to meet operational needs.

Resume Preferences:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics Management, or Transportation related field. Five (5) or more years of transportation experience. Three (3) or more years of experience transporting individuals with disabilities. Two (2) or more years supervisory experience (performance evaluations, progressive discipline, creating and managing FT and PT schedules, etc.) of 20 or more staff. Experience with Medicaid Billing. Experience with budgeting. Experience operating a 15 passenger or larger vehicles. Experience performing pre and/or post inspection of vehicles.

V RS Contribution:
All full-time employees are required to contribute 5% of annual salary toward their retirement account; in accordance with VRS retirement provisions. This will be handled through a pre-tax payroll deduction.
