Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Registers patients by collecting and verifying demographic, insurance, and medical information, accurately entering data into the electronic health record. Obtains required signatures and ensures all admission documentation is complete and distributed to appropriate departments. Greets and directs patients and visitors, supporting efficient patient flow by escorting patients to clinical areas as needed. Performs clerical duties including answering phones, preparing admission forms, filing/scanning documents, and maintaining accurate patient records. Collaborates with clinical staff to support care coordination while maintaining strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and hospital policies.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Interviews patients or their representatives to collect and verify required data for registration form that includes name, address, phone number, attending physician and individual or agency responsible for clinic bill. Enters patient information into computer database, as well as other information such as tests ordered by physician, and lab orders, etc. Obtains required signatures on forms according to established procedures, and ensures information recorded is complete and accurate. Assembles patient files that include registration forms, test requisitions, and photocopies of insurance cards, driver's license, and pre-admission orders. Delivers patient information and forms to appropriate nurse immediately. Greet patients, create a friendly helpful contact and monitor waiting time prior to medical appointment. Makes inquiries for accident and insurance information in a knowledgeable and friendly manner, assembles patient files, and forwards to nursing unit. Collect outpatient co-pays and writes receipts. Directs or escorts patients to waiting area. Assist with filing charts/paperwork, scheduling and answering phones as needed. Input outpatient data using different types of insurance, bill codes, occurrence codes and accident codes. Processes super bills. Inform patients of different types of insurance/assistance programs available. Monitor waiting rooms for cleanliness, stock magazines and educational literature as needed. Back-up other receptionists as needed. Attends meetings and in-service sessions, as directed. Requires regular attendance and punctuality. Performs other assigned dutiesREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or equivalent. Current CPR certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.Preferred Qualifications:
Associates Degree 1-2 Years office experienceKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must be able to work efficiently both independently and collaboratively with teams and leadership while demonstrating a high level of integrity, sound judgment, and attention to detail. This role requires professionalism in all interactions with employees, patients, and the public, along with the ability to maintain strict confidentiality and comply with all SECHD, state, and federal policies and regulations. Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills are essential, as is the ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to change, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. The candidate must communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with a professional and compassionate demeanor. Computer proficiency and the ability to learn new software systems are required. Knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations is preferred. Dependability, initiative, and the ability to see tasks through to completion are critical, as is a commitment to safety, quality, and working under stressful conditions and/or irregular hours.ADAAA Accommodations:
