Works independently under the general direction of the immediate supervisor. Maintains and updates files, records and reports for the Road & Bridge Division. Drafts, types & researches correspondence for reports, charts, etc. Maintains and updates records and files in custom computer program. Performs general administrative duties such as scheduling meetings, making appointments, taking messages, and filing. Performs some account keeping or technical level work for Road & Bridge & Fleet Management. Communicates and interacts with the public and professional staff. Accesses, inputs and retrieves information and data from a computer. Enters and updates Sunshine 811 locates. Generates and updates Road & Bridge project listing. Maintains and updates weekly meeting schedule for Road & Bridge. Generates IT help desk tickets for the Road & Bridge Department. Works part of the day at Fleet Management assisting with invoicing, etc. Receives, screens and routes phone calls, visitors and mail. Performs other job-related duties as required. Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED equivalent and two (2) years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations:
Possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of and practice of secretarial and routine administrative skills. Knowledge of and practice of organizational and time management skills. Knowledge of accounting, financial planning, and budgeting. Ability to operate more complex office equipment. Ability to maintain and update logs, files and records with a high degree of accuracy. Ability to analyze information and make judgment decisions. Ability to understand and interpret complex oral and written instructions and documents, and programs. Ability to interact effectively and tactfully with the public and staff and to establish working relationships with other employees and the public. Ability to use a personal computer and various computer programs. Ability to prepare correspondence and reports with speed and accuracy utilizing complex word-processing functions. Ability to work with spreadsheet and database programs.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
: Work is performed primarily in a standard office setting. The position involves frequent contact with staff and the public and requires the use of computers and standard office equipment. Duties are typically performed at a desk or workstation and may involve extended periods of sitting, with occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching. The work may occasionally require lifting or carrying objects up to 20 pounds.
