Location:
Transportation Transportation Secretary- 12 Months Helena Public Schools is seeking a highly organized, customer-focused Transportation Administrative Assistant to support the daily operations of the District's Transportation Department. This position serves as the primary administrative support to the Transportation Manager and plays an essential role in coordinating transportation services for students, staff, and the community. Some of what you will do: Provide administrative and secretarial support to the Transportation Manager. Assist in developing and maintaining school bus routes using computerized routing software. Serve as the primary point of contact for parents, staff, students, and the public by answering questions regarding bus routes, schedules, transportation eligibility, fees, and other transportation services. Schedule district field trips and activity transportation while coordinating with schools, coaches, bus contractors, and district staff. Prepare weekly and monthly transportation reports, payroll, budget information, reimbursement documentation, and statistical reports. Monitor invoices, accounts payable, and transportation expenditures while communicating with vendors regarding purchases and orders. Schedule substitute bus drivers and bus paraprofessionals as directed. Operate the district's two-way radio system to communicate with drivers and transportation contractors. Assist with administration of the district's Drug and Alcohol Testing Program for bus drivers. Maintain confidential student transportation records and ensure compliance with district policies and applicable regulations. Support the preparation of the transportation budget and maintain accurate financial and operational records. Provide courteous, professional customer service while exercising sound judgment in resolving transportation concerns. Other duties as assigned.
Who we are looking for:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) One year of experience and/or one year of secretarial training; or an equivalent combination of experience and training as determined by the District. Essential functions of the position include the ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation. Current entry level salary range is $19.43-$20.72 per hour depending on applicable relevant work experience as determined by the District and includes a comprehensive benefit package consisting of paid sick and vacation leave, 9 holidays, 3 personal days, up to 9 school calendar related days, health benefits, and retirement.
