We are seeking a dependable, compassionate, and detail-oriented Medical Assistant / Front Office Coordinator to join our outpatient mental health practice. This is a hybrid position involving both clinical support and front office operations. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a medical office and be comfortable moving between patient-facing administrative responsibilities and back-office clinical support. This position plays an important role in maintaining efficient patient flow, supporting providers, and creating a professional and welcoming experience for patients. Duties Greet patients and assist with check-in and check-out Schedule, reschedule, and confirm appointments Answer incoming calls and portal messages and route clinical questions appropriately Verify insurance eligibility and benefits and maintain accurate demographic and insurance information Collect copays, coinsurance, deductibles, deposits, and outstanding patient balances Room patients and obtain and document vital signs, height, weight, medication information, and other appropriate intake information Maintain accurate documentation within the electronic health record Assist providers with clinical and administrative tasks within the employee's training and scope Process medication prior authorizations and communicate with pharmacies, patients, and providers as directed Assist with referrals, releases of information, outside medical records, laboratory information, and other clinical documentation Prepare letters, forms, and other correspondence at the direction of providers or management Support telehealth, patient portal, and electronic documentation workflows Scan, upload, fax, and properly route medical records and correspondence Monitor assigned messages, tasks, and work queues and ensure timely follow-up Maintain clinical and front-office supplies and keep work areas clean and organized Follow HIPAA, confidentiality, infection-control, safety, and practice policies Cross-train and provide support in both front-office and back-office functions as operational needs require Perform other related duties as assigned Qualificat ions High school diploma or equivalent required Medical Assistant education, certification, or relevant hands-on medical office experience preferred Previous experience in a physician practice, outpatient clinic, behavioral health practice, or similar medical setting strongly preferred Previous front- and back-office medical experience strongly preferred Experience with EHR/EMR systems and medical scheduling software Familiarity with insurance verification, prior authorizations, referrals, and patient collections preferred Working knowledge of medical terminology Strong communication, organization, and customer-service skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Ability to communicate professionally and compassionately with patients experiencing behavioral-health concerns Strong attention to detail, reliability, professionalism, and teamwork Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements
Pay:
$17.00 - $21.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
