Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Referral Coordinator/Front Office Receptionist to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for managing patient referrals, ensuring seamless communication between providers, insurance companies, and patients. Your expertise will help facilitate timely access to specialized care, maintain accurate medical records, and uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and compliance. Responsibilities Coordinate and process patient referrals efficiently, ensuring all necessary documentation is complete and accurate. Verify insurance coverage, obtain prior authorization and confirm eligibility Maintain comprehensive medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies. Collaborate with healthcare providers to facilitate smooth referral workflows, including scheduling appointments and following up on pending authorizations. Utilize medical coding skills such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding to accurately document services rendered. Communicate effectively with patients regarding referral procedures, insurance requirements, and appointment details through excellent customer service. Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems for accurate documentation of medical records, insurance verification, and billing information. Answer high volume of phone calls Qualifications Proven experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment with familiarity in medical terminology and medical records management. Strong knowledge of health insurance policies, managed care processes, insurance prior authorization procedures, and health insurance verification. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for documentation and communication purposes. Understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security at all times. Experience with electronic health records (EHR) or electronic medical records (EMR) management systems. Knowledge of CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), medical billing, and medical coding best practices. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with patients, providers, and insurance representatives. Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion while maintaining accuracy under tight deadlines.
