Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Front Desk Receptionist/Billing specialist, where your energy and organizational skills will be the heartbeat of our clinic. In this vital role, you will serve as contact for patients and visitors, ensuring a welcoming environment while efficiently managing administrative and billing tasks. Your expertise in medical office operations, electronic health record (EHR) systems, and insurance processes will help streamline patient care and support our mission to deliver exceptional healthcare services. Duties Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing excellent customer service while managing check-in and check-out procedures. Schedule appointments using medical scheduling software, coordinating with clinical staff to optimize patient flow. Verify patient insurance coverage, explain billing procedures, and collect payments or co-pays accurately. Review and update medical records in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Carestack to ensure accuracy and compliance with HIPAA regulations. Process dental billing claims for Medicaid, private insurance, and other payers using CDT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and dental terminology expertise. Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with clinical confidentiality policies and HIPAA standards. Manage incoming phone calls with professionalism using proper phone etiquette; direct inquiries to appropriate staff members. Assist with documentation review, data entry, and clerical support to ensure smooth clinic operations. Support the preparation of care plans and documentation for clinical staff as needed. Qualifications Proven experience in a medical/dental office setting with strong knowledge of dental billing, coding (ICD-10, CDT ), and dental insurance processes. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Carestack, 4D, Dentrix is highly preferred. Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing accuracy (10-key typing). Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies to safeguard patient data. Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly via phone and in person. Ability to count change, process credit cards Previous clinic experience or dental clinic experience is required; training could be provided for the right candidate. Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in documentation review and billing processes. Knowledge of health information management practices related to electronic health records (EHR) management is essential.
