In person About the Position Metropolitan Dance Center, a Ballroom and Latin Dance Studio in Stamford, CT, is seeking a friendly, professional, organized, and dependable Receptionist / Office Administrator to join our team. As the first point of contact for many of our students, guests, and prospective clients, this position plays an important role in creating a welcoming, organized, and professional studio experience. We are looking for someone who is well-spoken, polished, detail-oriented, reliable, and genuinely enjoys working with people. The ideal candidate communicates confidently both in person and over the phone, stays organized while managing multiple responsibilities, and enjoys working in a creative and energetic environment surrounded by students, instructors, and dancers. Reliability, punctuality, professionalism, excellent customer service, and a positive attitude are essential for this position. Responsibilities Welcome students, prospective students, clients, and visitors in a warm and professional manner Answer incoming phone calls and respond to general inquiries Provide excellent customer service and create a positive first impression of the studio Manage front-desk operations and daily administrative responsibilities Schedule appointments and assist with managing the studio calendar Manage class registrations and assist students with scheduling questions Process payments and maintain accurate transaction records Maintain and update client information and studio records Assist with email correspondence, data entry, document preparation, and other administrative tasks Communicate and coordinate with instructors, staff, and management to support smooth daily studio operations Clearly and professionally communicate studio policies, programs, schedules, and general information to students and guests Monitor studio and office supplies, maintain appropriate inventory levels, and assist with ordering and restocking supplies as needed Help maintain a clean, organized, and professional reception and office environment Assist with distributing flyers, promotional materials, and other studio marketing efforts Assist with basic digital, marketing, or design-related projects as needed Occasionally assist with and participate in studio events, showcases, open houses, and other special activities that may take place on Saturdays or outside regular working hours Help ensure every student and guest has a positive and welcoming experience at the studio Perform other reasonable front-desk and administrative duties as needed Qualifications Minimum 1 year of customer service experience Reception, office administration, or similar experience preferred Minimum 1 year of Microsoft Office experience Strong verbal and written communication skills Excellent organizational and time-management skills Strong attention to detail and accuracy Friendly, professional, and polished demeanor Dependable with excellent attendance and punctuality Comfortable communicating with clients both in person and over the phone Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and stay organized in a busy environment Ability to work independently and as part of a team Comfortable working in a creative, energetic, and people-focused environment High school diploma or equivalent preferred Experience with Google Workspace, QuickBooks, Mindbody, Canva, Adobe software, and AI productivity tools is a plus.
Schedule & Availability Regular Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 12:30 PM-9:00 PM Applicants must be available to work the full regular schedule consistently. This position also requires occasional availability for studio events, showcases, open houses, and other special activities that may take place on Saturdays or outside regular working hours. Advance notice will be provided whenever possible. Because this position provides front-desk coverage for the studio, consistent attendance, reliability, and punctuality are essential job requirements. This is a full-time, in-person position at Metropolitan Dance Center in Stamford, CT. Remote work is not available.
