Job Description
Performs responsible paraprofessional clerical and customer service work in assigned processing, front lobby management, and serving the senior population. An employee in this class performs a variety of clerical work, special functions, and serves as the receptionist. The employee answers phones, registers participants for various events and programs, collects fees, and greets participants with a friendly, outgoing, and service-oriented attitude. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Senior Center Director, and is reviewed through daily observation, conferences, and participant feedback on results and services. Greets participants and visitors. Manages front desk operations ensuring smooth communication throughout the Center. Assists participants with kiosk check-in procedures. Enters names into the MySeniorCenter program. Answers incoming calls promptly and professionally, transferring calls as needed. Schedules appointments and registers participants for events and programs. Assists with issuing cards and other equipment for game related activities. Provides clerical support to the department including maintaining records, processing information, and general office assistance. Ability to communicate positively and effectively with staff, participants, and members of the public. Ability to multi-task and manage time by working independently. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs as well as email and internet. Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records. Ability to operate standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, printers, copiers, and related devices. Proficient in setting up and operating DVD players and SmartTV systems. High School diploma or GED plus one year of clerical experience in a public-facing role. Possess a valid NC Drivers License.
