Apply Description Position Summary:
The Outpatient Registrar/Receptionist registers patients in the setting of Grace Cottage Hospital and Family Health Outpatient Services; following approved policies and obtaining required information. The Registrar greets and directs patients and family members in a friendly and helpful manner.
Qualifications:
Education/ Experience:
High school graduate or equivalent. Proficient computer skills required. Ability to work independently carrying out various activities with minimal supervision.
Other Requirements:
Previous experience working in a clinical setting and/or experience with scheduling software is preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare insurance is desirable. Excellent customer service skills. Maintains a cooperative professional working relationship with staff including but not limited to medical staff, and other departments, as well as outside agencies, community members and our patients.
Requirements Essential Functions Of The Position:
Collects and verifies patient demographic and insurance information. Obtains consents and necessary documents. Requests and obtains insurance cards and photo IDs, scans copies into the electronic system. Demonstrates the ability to properly use the phone and computer systems, fax machines, photocopies, scanners, printers and other business machinery. Supports patients with administrative process. Collects copays and/or payments, provides receipts and runs end-of-day report. Is friendly, welcoming, and helpful to visitors and directs them to their destination. Answers incoming calls in a timely and courteous manner, properly identifying self and facility. Routes calls to appropriate person or department. Notifies inpatient Charge nurse of arrival of outpatient procedures. Screens vendors entering facility, gives them appropriate identification to access the facility. Properly identifies the need for Codes and announces those Codes over intercom system. Salary Description 19.00 to 21.00 based on experience
