Full-Time | Direct Hire Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Tree Climber / Arborist to join a professional tree care team serving the Madison area. This is a direct-hire opportunity for someone with hands-on climbing experience who understands safe rigging, pruning, tree removal, and proper equipment operation. The ideal candidate has 1-2 years of professional tree climbing experience , is comfortable working at significant heights, and takes safety seriously. ISA certification is preferred, but candidates who are interested in continuing their education and developing their arboriculture career are encouraged to apply. Key Responsibilities Safely climb trees using appropriate climbing systems and techniques Perform tree pruning, trimming, and removal Apply proper rigging techniques when lowering limbs and tree sections Operate chainsaws and other professional tree-care equipment Inspect trees and work areas before beginning climbing operations Assist with tree removals while minimizing risk to surrounding property Identify common tree species and understand basic growth characteristics Follow established pruning and tree-care practices Inspect and properly maintain climbing gear, ropes, rigging equipment, and tools Work closely with ground crews to safely coordinate tree-care operations Follow all company and industry safety procedures Maintain clean and organized jobsites Communicate effectively with crew members, supervisors, and customers Assist with additional tree-care and grounds responsibilities as needed Qualifications 1-2 years of professional tree climbing experience preferred Physical ability and confidence to climb trees and work at heights Knowledge of safe tree rigging practices Experience with tree pruning and removal techniques Familiarity with chainsaws, climbing equipment, ropes, and related tree-care tools Understanding of workplace and tree-care safety standards Basic knowledge of tree species and growth patterns Valid driver's license required Reliable transportation Strong attendance and dependability Ability to work effectively as part of a professional tree-care crew Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work Preferred Qualifications ISA Certified Arborist or related ISA credentials Interest in obtaining ISA certification Hoisting license Advanced climbing and rigging experience Professional arboriculture or tree-removal experience Physical & Outdoor Requirements Climb trees and work at elevated heights throughout the workday Lift, carry, push, and pull tree-care equipment and materials Bend, reach, climb, and perform strenuous physical activity Work outdoors in varying weather conditions Safely operate around chainsaws, ropes, rigging systems, wood chippers, and other tree-care equipment Wear required PPE and follow all established safety procedures #
