A Farm, Nursery, or Greenhouse Worker propagates, cultivates and harvests plants, primarily flowers, trees, shrubs and sod, and other crops such as mushrooms that are grown in greenhouses, or grows and harvests farm crops such as grain, fruit or vegetables. Operates and maintains equipment used to grow and harvest plants and crops. Cares for animals including dairy cows or chickens, pigs or other animals raised for meat.
Minimum 40 hours per week; opportunity for up to 60 hours per week depending on workload and farm needs
Starting Pay:
$16.00 - $18.00 per hour (higher pay possible based on experience) Taylor Farms is seeking a dependable and hardworking Chicken House Laborer to join our team. This position is hands-on farm work involving the daily care, maintenance, and operation of chicken houses. Applicants should understand that this is a physically demanding and dirty job that requires working around live chickens, farm equipment, dust, manure, and the normal conditions associated with poultry farming. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, is not afraid of hard work, and takes pride in maintaining a safe and productive farm environment.
Job Responsibilities:
Perform daily tasks involved in the operation and maintenance of chicken houses Care for chickens and monitor their environment Maintain clean, safe, and efficient poultry house conditions Operate and assist with farm equipment as needed Perform routine cleaning, repairs, and general maintenance tasks Assist with loading, moving, and handling materials Identify and report equipment issues or maintenance concerns Follow all farm safety procedures and animal care guidelines Perform other duties as assigned to support daily farm operations
Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years old Must have a valid Driver's License Must have reliable transportation Must be dependable and willing to work a consistent full-time schedule Must be comfortable working around chickens, farm equipment, dirt, dust, and outdoor conditions Must be able to perform physical labor, including lifting, bending, standing, and working for extended periods
Preferred Experience:
Previous farm, poultry, agricultural, or industrial experience is a plus Maintenance, mechanical, or equipment repair experience is highly preferred Experience operating tools or farm equipment is beneficial
