Job Description
Job Summary It's Cornwall Social's opening year, and we're excited to welcome a field and grounds assistant to join the team. Cornwall Social is an 11-acre farm in Salisbury Mills, NY, with a mission to provide a space for our community to gather and enjoy the outdoors. We're building more than a farm — we're creating a welcoming place for people and families to eat homegrown food, drink with their neighbors, give kids room to run, and have opportunities to learn. We encourage curiosity and conversation. That means taking a moment to answer questions or show guests what you're working on is part of the culture here. We're looking for applicants who have agriculture, landscaping, or gardening experience. We also welcome candidates with a strong interest in these fields and previous manual labor experience. In this role, you will work closely with the Director of Site Development and our Farmer/Chef on a wide range of farm and landscaping projects. Qualifications 1+ year of organic farming, ecological landscaping, or gardening experience preferred Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively Experience with hand tools and basic power tools preferred Strong work ethic and attention to detail Duties Assist with field preparation, planting, weeding, watering, deadheading, pruning, trellising, harvesting, and general plant care Assist with planting, weed whacking, pruning, and maintaining tidy grounds Participate in post-harvest handling of produce, including washing, sorting, packing, weighing, and record-keeping Assist with infrastructure repair, sanitation, and compost management Assist with event setup and breakdown Maintain clean and organized work areas Maintain activity logs and submit daily records as required Follow all food safety protocols Maintain equipment through routine inspections and basic repairs to ensure reliable operation during daily tasks. Follow safety procedures related to power tool operation, chainsaw use, and landscaping machinery to prevent accidents. Assist with water sampling and water system maintenance. Expectations Punctuality, flexibility, and great time management skills. Trustworthy and respectful to staff and visitors. Attention to detail and ability to follow directions. Ability to lift 50 pounds. Employees must be equipped with appropriate work apparel. Weekend availability required. Flexibility to accommodate 10-20 hour work weeks. Rotating weekend shifts.
