FARMERS MARKET HELPER

Wanderwood Farmstead is looking for a reliable, outgoing person to join our market team. This isn't just a retail job—it's a high-energy, customer-facing role representing our farm. We sell our heritage-breed pork, beef, lamb, and goat at regional markets. We are looking for someone friendly, approachable, engaging, and trustworthy to help us connect with our community and sell our products. What the job is like You'll work directly with the farm owner to represent Wanderwood at regional markets. It's a rewarding, high-energy role where we work together to provide our community with high-quality, regeneratively raised meat.

A typical day includes:

Departure:

Meet at the farm in Lake Ann and head out for the day.

Set-up:

Help set up tents, tables, coolers, and market displays.

Customer Engagement:

Greet people, offer samples, and guide customers to the products they need.

Product Education:

Help customers understand the value of our heritage breeds, outdoor farm practices, and different cuts of meat.

Transactions:

Ring up sales, take cash, make change, and process card payments.

Restocking:

Move inventory between the trailer and the booth, as needed.

Teardown:

Pack the trailer and return to the farm.

Post-Market Prep:

Unload, restock for the next day, and prepare samples. No prior knowledge of farm practices, meat cuts, or retail sales is required; we will train you on everything you need to know.

Requirements Punctuality:

Required—we leave for market on a set schedule

Communication:

Comfortable proactively greeting and engaging strangers

Physical Stamina:

Able to stand and move for 5+ hours

Strength:

Able to lift 20 lbs regularly and help with heavier items during setup and breakdown

Skills:

Comfortable handling cash and using a tablet-based sales app Schedule We are hiring seasonal candidates for the market season. This is an ideal summer job for students; start and end dates will be adjusted to align with your school schedule.

Hours:

Approximately 28 hours per week.

Shifts:

4 days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday).

Time:

Shifts start at 6:00 AM at the farm and end in the mid-afternoon.

Season:

June through September, or adjusted around school schedules We understand seasonal employees may have summer plans; vacation requests will be considered with advance notice.
