Sentli Center for Regenerative Agriculture is seeking a passionate farmhand to work in our regenerative urban farm, maintaining the grounds, and assisting in growing food, and guiding educational tours. The urban garden currently has half an acre in organic and regenerative vegetable production, which includes 4,000 square feet of high tunnels. The farmhand's duties are to assist the Urban Farm Manager in maintaining a clean, orderly, and productive growing space to host educational events to increase community participation in the local food system. It's a unique opportunity to be involved in the growth of a food forest that has a lasting impact on the community. Seasonal part-time position working 10-20 hours a week. The work schedule depends on the growing season and needs on the farm. Some weekends may be required. Pay range depends upon experience and education, starting at $15/hour. Responsibilities include but not limited to the following activities Weed Management Installing and Maintenance of Drip Irrigation System Organic Pest Control Recordkeeping Welcoming visitors Providing educational tours

Qualifications:

The Farmhand must have at least 2 years of experience working in agriculture or grounds maintenance and be familiar with regenerative farming practices and micro-irrigation systems. Enjoy working outside in all weather conditions (South Texas Heat!) and has the ability to safely lift and carry 40 pounds and perform physical labor for hours at a time. Much of the work will be carried out alone, but some projects will require collaboration with team members. Ideal candidates will have interest in improving farming and leadership skills and be committed to Sentli's mission and purpose.

Skills:

We are looking for organized individuals who pay attention to details and can follow instructions. Proficient in Spanish and English. Passionate about regenerative agriculture and have a desire to make a positive impact on the local community. Comfortable addressing a crowd and public speaking, ability to guide agricultural tours and presentations. Candidates must have a current driver's license and no criminal history (because this role interacts with vulnerable populations).
