Job Description
PRIMARY FUNCTION
Responsible for assisting the farm manager in the agricultural, horticultural, and marketing work associated with running Casey Farm in Saunderstown, Rhode Island. Principal programs include an organic community supported agriculture program and weekly farmers market.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
30% Supervises farm hands in a variety of farm related tasks, including but not limited to harvesting, transplanting, and weeding of crops as well as preparing and cleaning fields. 30% Assists farm manager, as needed in greenhouse seeding, transplanting, field work, moving of materials, equipment maintenance/repair, supervising Groundskeeper, and animal care. 20% Assists in supervising Work Shares and volunteers in above tasks. 10% Assists in the selling and donating of produce. 5% Answers questions from visitors and the public regarding farm activities. 5% Performs other duties as requiredSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

The assistant farm manager hires, trains and evaluates all farm hands.Workshares:
The assistant farm manager trains and schedules the workshares and all other volunteers.QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent education
- 3 years of job-related experience
- Valid driver's license and the ability to drive farm equipment are required.
Other Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience managing a field crew
- Experience managing volunteers
- Experience with tractors, power tools and mowing equipment
