Position Summary:

The Range Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operation, safety, maintenance, and administration of all firearm ranges at MGAC. This position ensures that all range activities are conducted in accordance with established club policies, safety rules, applicable laws, and industry best practices. The Range Manager provides leadership to Range Safety Officers (RSOs), Volunteers, match directors, and members while promoting a culture of safety, professionalism, and exceptional customer service. The Range Manager serves as the primary point of contact for firearm range operations and is responsible for maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for members, guests, instructors, and competitive shooters.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:

Safety and Compliance Directly manage and enforce day-to-day compliance with all MGAC range rules, safety procedures, approved SOPs, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations through the supervision and direction of Range Safety Officers. Maintain a proactive range safety program focused on accident prevention and risk mitigation. Investigate safety incidents, rule violations, and near misses, and provide corrective action recommendations. Conduct regular safety inspections of all firing lines, berms, target systems, buildings, and range equipment. Ensure emergency response plans, first aid equipment, AEDs, and safety signage remain current and operational. Coordinate safety training and continuing education for Range Safety Officers and Volunteers. Range Operations Manage daily operations of all firearm ranges. Develop and recommend operational procedures and improvements to increase efficiency, safety, and member experience. Implement approved procedures and SOPs and ensure consistent execution by Range Safety Officers. Develop and manage Range Safety Officer schedules and shooting-operation volunteer schedules to ensure adequate coverage of all firearm ranges. Coordinate firearm range schedules, closures, maintenance activities, competitions, training courses, and other range activities within the master club and facility schedule managed by the Club Operations Manager. Communicate scheduling conflicts and operational requirements to the Club Operations Manager. Monitor range utilization and recommend improvements to maximize operational effectiveness. Ensure all ranges are opened, operated, and secured according to established procedures. Personnel Leadership Directly manage and supervise paid Range Safety Officers and Volunteers assigned to shooting and range-safety operations. Directly coordinate the training, assignment, scheduling, and day-to-day supervision of Volunteers supporting shooting and range-safety operations. Provide training, mentorship, and performance evaluations for direct reports and volunteers (as defined by the Club Operations Manager). Conduct regular operational and safety meetings. Develop staff, as well as manage the ongoing training and compliance with any safety procedures or policies. Promote a positive culture focused on safety, accountability, professionalism, and member service. Foster a positive, inclusive, and team-oriented work environment for staff and volunteers, consistent with club core values and membership experience. Facility and Equipment Management Inspect firearm range infrastructure and identify maintenance, repair, safety, and improvement needs. Coordinate range maintenance requirements with the Club Operations Manager and Maintenance staff and monitor range conditions to ensure identified issues are addressed. Maintain inventory of targets, consumables, safety supplies, and operational equipment. Identify capital improvement opportunities and provide recommendations to the Club Operations Manager. Member and Guest Relations Serve as a visible and approachable leader on the ranges. Address member concerns, complaints, and operational issues professionally. Support member education and safe firearm handling practices. Assist with new member orientations and safety briefings. Training and Competitive Programs Support club-sponsored events, competitions, training classes, and special programs. Coordinate operational support for match directors and instructors. Ensure all events follow established safety protocols and club requirements. Administrative & Miscellaneous Maintain range operation logs, inspection records, safety reports, maintenance records, and incident documentation. Prepare operational reports for the Club Operations Manager. Assist with budget planning and operational forecasting. Track performance metrics including participation, incidents, and range utilization. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Range Safety Officer Certification (Chief RSO preferred) First Aid, CPR, and AED Certifications (preferred) High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum 5 years of firearms range operations, law enforcement, military, or related experience. Thorough knowledge of firearm safety practices and range operations. Strong leadership and communication skills. Ability to enforce rules fairly, professionally, and consistently. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and special events as required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Extensive knowledge of firearms safety standards and range management practices. Strong conflict resolution and decision-making skills. Ability to lead teams and manage operations in a dynamic environment. Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills. Ability to identify hazards and implement corrective actions. Time Commitment This is a full-time position requiring 40+ hours per week.

Normal Work Schedule:

Wednesday - Sunday, unless otherwise defined and approved by the Club Operations Manager. Weekend and some evening work is expected to support club events and operations. Expected to arrive before opening and through closing Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to inspect facilities across uneven terrain. Pay:

$50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
