Job Description

Summary:
Assit in golf course turf maintenance / course setup. Cut and trim golf course secondary roughs. Maintains the cleaniness of all golf course equipment.
Essential job functions:
In addition to performing hand labor and operating small power tools such as blowers, fly mowers, edgers and trimmers, individual operates powered equipment (Fairway-Rough mowers or Rotary mowers in mowing golf course areas and does related tasks as required.) Fertilizes putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and new plantings. Assists with chemical applications on greens, fairways and roughs. Grades and prepares a soil plant bed, lays sod, plants vegetative material, and seeds putting greens, tees, fairways, and roughs. Changes hole locations and moves tee markers. Rakes and maintains bunkers, ball washers, and water hazards. Assists in minor irrigation repair including digging up leaks, and replacing damaged sprinkler heads. Trims trees and prunes shrubbery. Applies fertilizer to plants and grass under directions of supervisor following calibration by spray technician.. Operates mechanical loaders in moving soil, debris, and other materials. Drives a backhoe, forklift, skid steer. Cleans maintenance area, equipment, and check fluid levels daily. Inspects machinery after each use and reports machinery/equipment problems to mechanics staff/superintendent/assistant superintendent. Other assigned duties as required. Weed eat and backpack blow areas that are along the courses daily Rake and maintain sand bunkers daily lift and change out coolers on both courses daily Minimum requirements: Be prompt and efficient in performing duties. Present a neat professional appearance and conduct themselves in a courteous professional manner. Follow accepted principles, practices, rules and regulations of the POA. Must possess a valid Mississippi drivers license and maintain a safe driving record.
Abilities required:
Knowledge of tools, methods and materials used in golf course and grounds maintenance work. Requires ability to safely operate trucks and motorized equipment. Must be able to follow oral and written directions. Walking, sitting, bending, climbing onto and off of equipment and prolonged standing. Must be able to lift 51 lbs without assistance and assist others with lifting of heavier objects. Must have closed toe and closed heel shoes Associated hazards: Exposure to noise, heat, sun, insects, flying particles and debris. Working on inclines such as ditch bank and slopes. Stooping, bending, lifting, twisting of upper body, walking and working on uneven surfaces. Exposure to outdoor allergens petroleum products such as grease, oil and fuel. Working with and around cutting tools such as saws, mowers, string trimmers and axes.' Must be able to work in all weather conditions '
