Job Summary Join our vibrant team as a Garden Center Nursery Specialist, where you'll be at the heart of cultivating lush landscapes and thriving plant collections. This dynamic role combines hands-on horticultural work with expert plant care, irrigation management, and team collaboration. You'll play a vital part in ensuring our nursery operates smoothly, producing healthy crops and beautiful gardens that inspire our customers. Duties Assist with customers and help answer any questions they may have Maintain and operate irrigation systems to ensure optimal watering schedules for diverse plant varieties, adhering to standard operating procedures (SOPs) for efficiency and water conservation. Assist with greenhouse cultivation, including planting, pruning, transplanting, and managing production cycles to promote healthy growth. Implement integrated pest management strategies to control plant pests and diseases effectively while minimizing chemical use. Conduct garden trimming, landscaping, lawn care, and land management tasks to uphold the nursery's aesthetic standards. Identify plants accurately through plant identification techniques and ensure proper handling using hand tools and mechanical equipment. Support crop pest management activities by monitoring plant health and applying appropriate treatments as needed. Collaborate with horticultural teams to manage outdoor work projects, including heavy lifting of plants and materials, ensuring safety protocols are followed. Maintain detailed records of irrigation schedules, crop progress, pest control measures, and other operational data to optimize nursery productivity. Qualifications Proven growing experience in horticulture or related fields such as farming or landscaping. Familiarity with greenhouse experience, greenhouse cultivation techniques, and outdoor work environments. Ability to identify various plants accurately and apply crop pest management strategies effectively. Mechanical knowledge of hand tools, irrigation equipment, and basic math skills for measurements and calculations. Experience managing horticultural teams or working collaboratively within a team setting. Physical ability to perform heavy lifting, stand for extended periods, and work outdoors in various weather conditions. Knowledge of standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to crop production, pest control, lawn care, and land management is highly desirable. Pay:
$13.00 - $16.00 per hour Expected hours: 35.0 per week
