JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Under general supervision of the Foreman or Assistant Foreman, carries out routine highway maintenance tasks, performs general labor activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of training and work experience which indicates possession of the skills, knowledge and abilities listed below. An example of an acceptable qualification for this position is: Valid Ohio Commercial Driver's License (CDL) , completion of eighth grade education or equivalent, plus the ability to read warning signs, and maintain continuing eligibility for insurance coverage under the existing county vehicle insurance policy.

ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES

(The duties listed below are intended to depict tasks performed by this classification.) 40% (1) Performs highway maintenance activities (e.g., berming, removing brush, trees, and shrubs, removing waste matter from highway areas, cleaning and repairing storm sewers, cleaning and laying tile, removing snow either by hand or may plow snow and spread salt and cinders, assists with bridge repair); operates small trucks, mowers and jackhammers, etc. 40% (2) Flags traffic through repair or construction areas. 10% (3) Carries out general building maintenance (e.g., sweeps floors, cleans offices, etc.); assists in maintenance of equipment (e.g., checks fluid levels, tightens bolts, lubricates as required, cleans equipment). 10% (4) May operate various equipment on an irregular basis as assigned. Fills out daily required forms regarding vehicles, equipment, time sheets, etc. Performs a variety of manual tasks as required and assigned.
