Park Attendant (Seasonal)
Salary:
$17.69 - $19.50 / hour (depends on relative experience and/or education)

San Luis Rey River Park (office) - 2746 Reche Rd. Fallbrook, CA 92028
Bulletin:
The Department of Parks and Recreation is seeking energetic, flexible, and motivated people interested in working approximately 15-40 hours per week dependent on availability and need. The San Luis Rey River Park is approximately 800 acres of open space park land including the upcoming Bonsall Community Park. Horse Creek Ridge Community Park an Willow Grove County Park are multi-purpose facilities including: soccer fields, baseball fields, a playground and reservable picnic areas. This is a great entry level position for those looking to become a Park Ranger, Park Maintenance Worker, or begin a career in the Parks and Recreation field. Duties at San Luis Rey River Park and Horse Creek Ridge Community Park/Willow Grove include the following: Completing daily tasks relating to customer service, taking reservations, conducting facility maintenance, and enforcing park rules. Additional duties include working special events; prepare written reports including incident and accident reports; enforce Title 4 County of San Diego DPR Rules and Regulations; operating power equipment such as weed eaters, leaf blowers, wood chippers, chainsaws, and riding mowers; trail maintenance; establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the public; develop and deliver environmental interpretation programs for visitors; troubleshoot irrigation systems and make repairs; clean restrooms and maintain park standards; patrolling park properties on foot and in DPR vehicles. Qualifications:
This challenging position requires a within the parks and recreation or closely related field, and/or one semester completed recreation courses from an accredited university.
Knowledge of:
  • Irrigation and turf management.
  • Software applications: Outlook, Word, Excel, reservation systems.
  • Trail maintenance.
  • Excellent customer service.
Ability to:
  • Safely operate a variety of power tools and minor equipment.
  • Oversee, organize, and conduct a wide variety of general maintenance projects.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Receive complaints, suggestions, and referrals from the general public in a professional manner.
  • Work weekends and holidays.
  • Be on time for scheduled shifts.
This is a temporary, non-benefited position. Incumbents may receive Health insurance benefits depending upon eligibility criteria in accordance with ACA requirements. Selected candidates will be required to successfully complete a background investigation/fingerprinting and a medical/drug screen prior to employment.
