Job Description

Position Summary Fybercom is seeking a hardworking and dependable Fiber Drop Laborer to support the installation of fiber optic internet services. This position is primarily responsible for trenching and placing fiber pathways from the network connection point to residential and commercial customer locations. The ideal candidate enjoys working outdoors, operating equipment, and contributing to the expansion of high-speed internet services throughout our service area. Essential ResponsibilitiesTrenching & Fiber Drop Installation Trench and prepare pathways for fiber optic cable installation to residential and business locations. Assist with placing conduit and fiber drops from utility easements, pedestals, or handholes to customer premises. Restore customer property following installation, including filling trenches and basic site cleanup. Ensure all work is completed according to company standards and construction specifications. Coordinate with Fiber Installers to ensure efficient completion of customer installations. Equipment Operation Operate trenchers, vibratory plows, mini excavators, and related construction equipment. Perform daily equipment inspections and report maintenance concerns. Safely transport equipment and materials to and from job sites. Safety & Compliance Follow company safety policies and OSHA guidelines. Identify and maintain proper clearance from underground utilities. Adhere to utility locate requirements before excavation. Utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Maintain a safe work environment for coworkers, customers, and the public. Customer Service Interact professionally and courteously with customers. Explain work being performed when necessary. Maintain a professional appearance and positive representation of Fybercom. Documentation Complete daily work orders and installation documentation. Record completed drops and report project status to supervisors. Document any obstacles, property concerns, or construction issues encountered in the field. QualificationsRequired Valid driver's license, clean driving record and 3 years with drivers license. Ability to pass a drug screening and background check. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds. Strong work ethic and attention to safety. Preferred Experience operating trenchers, vibratory plows, mini excavators, or similar equipment. Experience in telecommunications, utility construction, landscaping, or excavation. Knowledge of underground utility locating practices. Physical Requirements Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and digging. Ability to work in uneven terrain and varying weather conditions. Ability to lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 75 pounds. Ability to operate construction equipment safely and efficiently.
Pay:
$18.00 - $20.00 per hour
