  • Full-time Position Summary The Architectural Drafter plays a key role in producing both 2D layouts and 3D models for residential and commercial projects.
Working closely with the Interior Design team, the drafter is responsible for space planning and creating floorplans that align with client specifications. This position involves direct client interaction, including participation in design and construction planning meetings. Creativity is essential, as the role requires offering innovative design solutions, providing product information, supporting cost estimation, and sharing industry expertise. The drafter is also responsible for ensuring all designs comply with the company's design standards and processes. Strong technical skills are necessary, particularly proficiency in 3D/CAD software to produce precise construction drawings and building details. Additionally, the role demands strong communication and customer service skills to effectively collaborate with clients and project teams. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Design Development Create and develop architectural design concepts that meet client needs and align with the company's design and drafting standards. Assist with space planning, material selection, and layout for residential and commercial projects. Ensure all designs are functional, buildable, and comply with regulatory requirements. Collaborate with Project Managers to confirm that design concepts are both feasible and efficient. Client Collaboration Work closely with clients to understand their needs, preferences, and project goals. Present technical drawings and design solutions to clients, incorporating feedback and revisions as needed. Maintain clear communication with clients throughout the design process, ensuring satisfaction and alignment with project objectives. Manage project documentation within our project management software to keep technical drawings, tasks, and related documents up to date. Project Execution Oversee the translation of design plans into detailed technical drawings and specifications. Collaborate with suppliers, vendors, and construction teams to ensure timely delivery and implementation of architectural elements. Attend and participate in Construction Planning Meetings with clients and project stakeholders. Technical Drawings and Specifications Prepare detailed technical drawings, 3D models, and design documentation using CAD software, ensuring accuracy and clarity. Develop and maintain project specifications, ensuring all components are clearly defined and achievable. Coordinate with other members of the design team, including the Construction Project Administrator and Interior Designer, to ensure that all designs are executed as intended. Project Coordination Manage the drafting aspects of multiple architectural projects, ensuring smooth progress and clear communication among stakeholders. Conduct on-site visits to monitor construction progress, identify potential issues, and provide technical guidance as needed. Ensure all drafting work adheres to the project scope, timeline, and budget. Material Selection and Procurement Assist with providing cost estimates and specifications to support project management and budget alignment. Research and recommend materials, finishes, and fixtures that fit within the project's architectural design and budget. Use project management tools to update drawings based on Construction Planning Meetings. Industry Knowledge and Trends Stay updated on the latest trends, materials, and technology in architectural drafting to bring innovative approaches to projects. Attend industry events, trade shows, and training to maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills in drafting and design software. Quality Assurance Ensure that all projects meet high standards of quality, functionality, and regulatory compliance. Address any design or drafting issues that arise during the project to ensure successful outcomes. Conduct final reviews of technical drawings and plans to ensure the project meets all design specifications and client expectations.
