Job Description

An architecture, interiors, and planning firm on Colorado's Front Range looking to grow. Our work runs to municipal public-safety facilities, healthcare, and civic projects — buildings that are won on qualifications, delivered under public scrutiny, and judged by how well they serve the people who use them every day.
THE ROLE
We are hiring an Architectural Job Captain to produce the construction documents that turn design into buildable work. You will own the drawing set on your projects — its accuracy, its code compliance, its coordination with consultants, and its readiness for permit and bid. You will report to a Project Manager and work alongside the full studio, including interiors. This is a technical craft position with real judgment in it: someone who catches the consultant conflict before the contractor does, and leaves a drawing set better organized than they found it.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Construction documents — Produce plans, elevations, sections, schedules, and construction details in Revit and AutoCAD, translating design intent into accurate, buildable documents.
  • Code compliance — Apply the governing building code, ADA requirements, and accessibility and life-safety standards, and carry them through the document set.
  • Consultant coordination — Receive, integrate, and cross-check structural, civil, MEP, and specialty vendor information, and flag conflicts before they reach the field.
  • Model and standards — Set up and maintain BIM models, manage families and content, and contribute to the firm's drafting standards and templates.
  • Quality and revisions — Take part in milestone QC reviews, incorporate redlines, and keep drawings, revisions, and documentation organized and current.
  • Problem solving — Work with the project manager, consultants, and contractors to resolve detailing and constructability questions during design and construction.
  • Support Management — Responsible for the management of the drafting support team.
  • Research and mentoring — Investigate materials, finishes, assemblies, and product specifications to support detailing decisions, and guide less experienced production staff.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Required:
  • Three or more years producing architectural construction documents in a professional practice.
  • Degree in architecture or architectural technology, or equivalent documented experience producing construction document sets.
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit, including model setup, family creation, and sheet and view management; working proficiency in Bluebeam.
  • Working knowledge of the International Building Code, ADA and accessibility standards, and how to carry code requirements through a drawing set.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate consultant documents and catch conflicts before they reach the field.
  • Sound understanding of construction assemblies and detailing — you can explain why a detail works, not just draw it — and the organization to carry several projects at different phases at once.
Preferred:
  • Experience on municipal public-safety projects — police stations, fire stations, emergency operations, or similar civic facilities.
  • Healthcare experience: clinics, medical office, ambulatory surgery, or hospital renovation and addition work.
  • Progress toward architectural licensure (ARE candidate or NCARB record established).
  • BIM management experience: template development, content libraries, model auditing, or BIM 360 administration.
  • Experience with publicly funded or grant-funded work and the documentation it requires.
  • Construction Administration experience is a plus: RFI, submittal, OAC minutes, on-site visit reports, etc
Pay:
$70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
Benefits:
Dental insurance Health insurance Life insurance Paid time off Parental leave Professional development assistance Retirement plan Tuition reimbursement Vision insurance
Work Location:
