Job Description

I. SUMMARY
Life Science Products, Inc. (LSP®), an employee-owned company, has been providing interior finish construction for Walls, Floors, Ceilings, Doors, and Wall and Door protection products to the Medical Science and Technology Research Field for over 50 years. Our proven solutions are used by the most highly respected Government, Private and Public Medical Research Institutions in the U.S. and Canada. LSP® also offers a full range of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) for lab research personnel. We are currently seeking skilled carpenter for our construction install teams. This position will report to the construction manager and crew leader on site, perform manual tasks and utilize power equipment for installation of specialty interior finishes including but not limited to wall panel systems, ceilings, rails, and interior doors. Painting experience is beneficial. Provide technical ability and support to the group while learning installation techniques. Participates and assists in all phases of work.
II. RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Perform all tasks required of a laborer and offers higher technical support through learning a skilled craft. Learned skills will be considered satisfactory when Foreman and Construction Manager approve. B. Performs Quality work according to methods taught and quality expected. C. Understands system being installed and perform manual and technical tasks to ensure project is completed as per specifications, including measuring, preparation, layout and installation, as required. D. While experience with FRP panels is not required, general carpentry knowledge and skill will transfer well to our product offerings. E. Assist in problem solving with crew. Work as an integral team member towards efficient and timely project completion. Ensure all directions are provided through clear communication. Follows all company and safety procedures. F. Other duties as assigned
III. INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS
Works closely with other crew members as assigned, either as a cohesive unit or on independent tasks. Maintains clear communication with others in the group, foreman, and construction manager to ensure smooth and efficient operation. Maintains professional conduct while representing the company and ensures professional conduct is maintained by others on the crew. Suggestive actions, remarks or vulgar language and gestures are not permitted.
IV. WORK HOURS AND TRAVELING
Travel is required as our customers are spread across the country. For local assignments, the work day will start at our Stevensville, MD office.
VI. SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS
High School graduate, GED for math, reading and writing skills, or trade school graduate with emphasis in carpentry or construction or extensive experience in construction trade required. Must have a valid driver's license and maintain a standard insurable Motor Vehicle report for transportation to various sites. Able to work in construction conditions that can be dusty, noisy and have temperatures that are not mechanically controlled. Able to lift 80 pounds on a repetitive basis. Able to climb and work at heights up to 30 feet. Kneeling may be required for extended periods.
