Job Description
Chosen Valley Testing (CVT) is seeking a Wood Framing Special Inspector to join our team in the St. Paul, Minnesota area. This position will primarily perform field inspections of wood-framed construction to verify compliance with approved construction documents, project specifications, and applicable building codes. This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in wood framing, carpentry, construction inspection, or building construction who is interested in developing a career in construction testing and special inspection. Previous special inspection experience is preferred but not required for candidates with a strong understanding of wood-framed construction. Responsibilities Perform field observations and special inspections of wood-framed construction. Review construction drawings, details, and project specifications. Observe framing installation, connections, fasteners, shear walls, hold-downs, and other structural components. Document inspection activities and prepare clear, accurate field reports. Communicate inspection findings with contractors, project managers, engineers, and other project team members. Identify construction that does not conform to approved project documents. Assist with other construction materials testing and special inspection services as needed. Qualifications Experience with wood framing, carpentry, construction inspection, or a related construction field is preferred. Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications. Strong attention to detail and communication skills. Ability to work independently in an active construction environment. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. ICC certification in wood construction/special inspection is preferred but not required. CVT will provide training and support for qualified candidates pursuing applicable certifications.
