Job Description

Commercial Carpenter | Construction Division AOI Construction Division is seeking experienced Commercial Carpenters to join our growing team in Omaha. This is a hands-on role responsible for commercial interior carpentry, demolition, framing, drywall, doors, trim, hardware, and other construction activities that bring our projects to life. The ideal candidate takes pride in their craftsmanship, works safely and efficiently, and understands what it means to be a dependable member of a high-performing construction team. What You'll Do Read, interpret, and execute blueprints, drawings, and project specifications to accurately measure, cut, assemble, and install commercial construction materials. Perform commercial interior carpentry, including rough and finish work, metal framing, drywall, doors, trim, hardware, prefabricated frames, and related components. Perform demolition and site preparation to safely and efficiently prepare spaces for new construction, renovations, and reconfigurations. Ensure quality and accuracy by using lasers, levels, framing squares, and other tools to verify alignment, measurements, and workmanship while identifying and communicating potential issues. Protect and maintain the jobsite by safeguarding existing finishes and client property, minimizing disruption in occupied spaces, and maintaining a clean, organized, and professional work environment. Collaborate with field teams including Lead Installers, Superintendents, Project Managers, subcontractors, and other personnel to meet project schedules, quality standards, and client expectations. Champion safety and craftsmanship by following AOI and OSHA requirements, properly using PPE and tools, maintaining high-quality workmanship, and taking ownership of the safety, cleanliness, and success of each jobsite. What We're Looking For 3 or more years of commercial carpentry experience; commercial interior experience preferred. High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong working knowledge of commercial carpentry, construction, and trade practices, with the ability to install drywall, trim, doors, metal framing, hardware, and related components to AOI standards. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and measurements and accurately measure, cut, assemble, and install construction materials. Proficient in the safe and effective use of hand tools, power tools, lasers, and other construction equipment. Dependable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented, with a commitment to quality workmanship, safety, and maintaining a professional jobsite. Ability to communicate and work effectively with a variety of people, follow written and verbal instructions, and collaborate with coworkers, clients, and other jobsite personnel. Valid Iowa or Nebraska driver's license required. OSHA 10, First Aid/CPR, Fire Extinguisher, laser, and power tool certifications are preferred but not required; AOI will assist employees in obtaining certifications.

Physical Demands and Work Environment This position is physically demanding and performed in active construction environments. Regular duties include standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and using hands and tools. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and may occasionally be required to lift or team-lift items weighing up to 100 pounds. Work may occur indoors and outdoors and includes exposure to weather conditions, construction noise, and jobsite hazards. The employee must be able to safely navigate active job-sites and comply with all safety policies and PPE requirements.
