Full Job Description Position Overview:
The Traveling Carpenter performs skilled carpentry work on retail installation projects at multiple locations nationwide. This role is responsible for constructing, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures, ensuring work is completed accurately, safely, and in alignment with project specifications. The Traveling Carpenter works closely with the Traveling Foreman to maintain quality standards and meet project deadlines.
Probationary Period:
This position is subject to a 90-day probationary period. During this time, performance and fit within the organization will be assessed. Employment is at-will, meaning either the employee or the employer may terminate the employment relationship at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice, during or after the probationary period.
Key Responsibilities:
Skilled Carpentry Work:
Perform skilled carpentry tasks on retail installation projects, including constructing, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to execute work according to project requirements.
Project Preparation and Execution:
Ensure the necessary tools and materials are available and organized for each project. Follow the direction of the Traveling Foreman to ensure tasks are completed on time and to specifications.
Quality Assurance:
Maintain high-quality standards in all aspects of carpentry work, ensuring accuracy and durability. Conduct regular checks to ensure work aligns with project specifications and customer expectations.
Safety Compliance:
Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols, maintaining a safe working environment for the team and others on-site. Identify and report potential hazards to the Traveling Foreman promptly.
Qualifications:
Experience:
Minimum of 1 years of carpentry experience, preferably in retail installations or construction.
Skills:
Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications. Strong carpentry skills, including measuring, cutting, and assembling wood and other materials. Ability to use a variety of tools and equipment safely and effectively. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining quality standards. Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team. Experience with traveling or remote work on installation projects. Familiarity with retail project specifications and expectations.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift, carry, and move products as needed up to 35 lbs. Ability to build/install racking, gondola and fixtures based on customer's specifications. Frequently climb ladders as the job requires. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Work Environment:
A clean, safe work environment is always required. Frequent travel to retail locations within assigned regions. Must be able to work independently while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor. Must be on time and presentable in uniform as per company dress code. Ear buds and telephone use are strictly prohibited during working hours, except during scheduled breaks. May require evening or weekend work depending on project timelines.
Pay:
$20.00 - $25.00 per hour
