Full-Time, Direct Hire About the Opportunity PsyHire is partnering with an established commercial concrete and civil construction contractor in Central Indiana to identify an experienced Commercial Concrete Estimator . This is a confidential, direct-hire opportunity with a stable contractor that has been operating for nearly 30 years. The company is employee-owned through an ESOP and is focused on long-term growth, strong field leadership, safe operations, and quality project execution. This is not a temporary or contract assignment. The selected candidate will be hired directly by our client. Position Summary We are looking for an experienced Commercial Concrete Estimator with at least five years of estimating experience in commercial concrete construction. The right candidate will be comfortable estimating slabs, foundations, walls, structural concrete, and related scopes while working closely with project managers and field leadership to develop accurate, competitive bids. We are looking for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, collaborative, and able to help the company win work while protecting margins and supporting a smooth transition from estimating to operations. Perform accurate quantity takeoffs for slab-on-grade, foundations, walls, piers, footings, structural concrete, flatwork, and related scopes. Develop detailed cost estimates that include labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, production rates, and project-specific conditions. Solicit, evaluate, and level quotes from vendors and subcontractors. Identify project risks, constructability concerns, scope gaps, and potential cost impacts. Review access, sequencing, schedule requirements, site conditions, and other factors that may affect production. Bid Preparation Prepare complete and competitive bid packages. Clearly define scope inclusions, exclusions, clarifications, and assumptions. Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project walkthroughs when needed. Work with leadership to review pricing strategy, labor assumptions, production rates, and margins. Help ensure bids are complete, accurate, and submitted on time. Collaboration with Operations Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, and field leadership to verify production assumptions and construction methods. Support the project handoff after award so operations clearly understands the scope, budget, assumptions, risks, and bid strategy. Assist with scope reviews, project budgets, value engineering, and change-related estimating when needed. Provide clear information that helps the field team execute the work successfully. Continuous Improvement Track historical production rates, labor performance, material costs, and final project results. Use completed-project data to improve future estimate accuracy. Help refine internal estimating processes, templates, tools, and systems. Maintain organized records of bids, takeoffs, vendor quotes, and estimate documentation. What We're Looking For Experience Minimum of five years of commercial concrete estimating experience. Experience estimating commercial or industrial concrete projects. Proven experience estimating scopes that may include: Slab-on-grade Foundations Structural concrete Flatwork Footings Walls Piers Related commercial concrete scopes Field or operations experience in concrete construction is strongly valued. Technical Skills Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, addenda, and bid documents. Ability to evaluate labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and schedule impacts. Familiarity with estimating software and Microsoft Excel. Ability to identify scope gaps, constructability risks, and cost exposure before bid submission. Personal Qualities Organized and detail-oriented. Calm, solution-focused communicator. Able to work collaboratively with project managers, superintendents, and field leaders. Professional and respectful working style.
