The Superintendent owns the field:
planning and scheduling multiple crews across concurrent jobs, driving quality, safety, and productivity, and serving as the senior point of contact between our field teams, project managers, general contractors, and customers. The right candidate combines deep hands-on HVAC installation knowledge with proven leadership of foremen and crews and takes full ownership of projects from mobilization through inspection and closeout. Key Responsibilities Direct and coordinate all field installation activities across multiple concurrent residential and commercial projects. Plan and manage manpower across crews; assign foremen and installers to jobs based on scope, schedule, and skill set. Review project plans, specifications, submittals, and scopes; develop field schedules and coordinate material, equipment, and rental needs. Supervise, mentor, and evaluate foremen, lead installers, and apprentices; drive training, development, and accountability across the field team. Ensure all work meets mechanical, fuel gas, and building codes, manufacturer specifications, contract documents, and company quality standards. Coordinate with general contractors, builders, project managers, and other trades to sequence work and keep projects on schedule. Conduct regular job-site walks and quality inspections; coordinate municipal inspections and resolve deficiencies promptly.
Own field safety:
enforce company safety policies and OSHA requirements, lead toolbox talks, investigate incidents, and maintain a strong safety culture. Monitor labor hours, production, and job costs against budgets; identify and communicate change orders, delays, and scope issues to project management. Oversee system start-up, commissioning, and testing; support troubleshooting and punch-list completion through project closeout. Manage tools, equipment, and fleet assigned to field crews; control material usage and jobsite inventory. Assist with hiring, onboarding, and performance reviews for field personnel; support workforce planning as backlog grows. Ensure accurate and timely field documentation, including timesheets, daily reports, start-up sheets, as-builts, and warranty registrations. Qualifications 8+ years of HVAC installation experience across residential and/or commercial systems, with 3+ years supervising multiple crews or serving as a superintendent, general foreman, or field manager. Expert working knowledge of HVAC systems, sheet metal and ductwork, refrigerant piping, gas piping, hydronics, and low-voltage controls. Thorough understanding of applicable mechanical, fuel gas, and building codes and the inspection process. EPA Section 608 Universal Certification preferred. Journeyman or Master HVAC license preferred (or ability to obtain per state/local requirements). Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, specifications, and submittals. Proven ability to schedule and run multiple jobs simultaneously, manage budgets and labor, and deliver quality work on time. Strong leadership, communication, and customer-service skills; comfortable dealing directly with GCs, builders, inspectors, and homeowners. OSHA 30 certification preferred (or ability to obtain). Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Proficiency with computers/tablets for scheduling, timekeeping, and project documentation.
Pay:
$30.00 - $35.00 per hour
