Aquila Corporation is looking for a dependable, safety-focused Underground Construction Laborer to support our directional drilling and underground fiber construction crews. This is a hands-on field position for someone who is ready to work outdoors, assist experienced crew members, operate approved equipment, and help keep fiber construction projects moving safely and efficiently. If you're hardworking, reliable, and willing to learn, this is an opportunity to build your skills in underground telecommunications construction. What You'll Do Assist directional drilling and underground construction crews with the installation of duct and fiber optic cable. Prepare job sites by removing hazards, cleaning work areas, and supporting site setup and restoration. Perform physical construction tasks including digging, trenching, backfilling, filling, and compacting earth. Load, unload, organize, and transport construction materials, tools, and equipment. Assist with pulling cable lines and installing fiber-related materials and equipment. Assist with traffic control in accordance with Company requirements and applicable local and state guidelines. Perform basic daily vehicle and equipment checks, including fluids, cleanliness, and organization. Follow supervisor instructions, safety requirements, and jobsite procedures at all times. What We're Looking For High school diploma or equivalent required. 1-2 years of construction or similar field experience preferred. Valid driver's license and ability to meet Company driving requirements. Basic understanding of construction principles and the ability to follow directions. Ability to safely operate manual and mechanical equipment necessary to complete assigned work. Ability to work outdoors for extended periods and perform physically demanding field work. Ability to travel and work weekends, nights, extended hours, or on-call assignments when project needs require it. Strong communication skills, reliability, and a team-focused attitude.
