Operations Manager and Supervisor Salary Compensation:
$18.00 DOE Summary/Objective A seasonal, non-exempt position designed to support Public Works operations, maintenance, and project support during peak summer months. Performs a variety of labor-intensive tasks under supervision, with opportunities to gain hands-on experience in municipal operations, and to learn field safety practices, equipment operation, and basic field data collection.     Supervision Received:
    o Works under the direct supervision of the Operations Manager and assigned Supervisor
      Supervisory Responsibilities:
      o None (this is a non-supervisory, temporary role) Position Details
        Term:
        Summer seasonal position (dates to be defined)
          Location:
          Public Works facilities and field work within city limits
            Work Schedule:
            Typical daytime shifts; occasional weekends or after-hours as required o 4 - 10's or 5 -8's per scheduling.
            Essential Functions Note:
            Reasonable accommodation may be provided for individuals with disabilities.
            • Assist with street maintenance, pothole repair, sidewalk and curb cleanup, landscaping, and general site maintenance
            • Hold and operate basic hand tools and light equipment as assigned
            • Assist with traffic control setup and safety flagging under supervision (where permitted)
            • Collect and record basic field data (meters, readings, logs) as directed
            • Assist with water/sewer system inspections or maintenance tasks as assigned
            • Help with equipment cleaning, fueling, and routine maintenance
            • Follow safety procedures and wear required PPE
            • Support emergency response or storm cleanup efforts as needed
            • Other duties as assigned by supervisor to support departmental operations Additional Duties
            • Attend safety briefings and training sessions
            • Participate in performance feedback and learning activities
            • Complete timekeeping, mileage, and service request documentation as required Tools and Equipment Used
            • Hand tools (shovels, rakes, wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.)
            • Powered tools as approved (drills, saws) and small equipment (pressure washers, leaf blowers)
            • Vehicle and equipment safety gear (PPE)
            • Communication devices (radio, mobile phone)
            • Basic measurement devices (meter readers, thermometers, gauges) Minimum Qualifications
            • High school diploma or equivalent (or currently enrolled student)
            • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
            • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks outdoors
            • Basic math and measurement skills
            • Commitment to safety rules and wearing PPE
            • Capable of following oral and written instructions
            • Good communication and teamwork skills Preferred Qualifications
            • Experience in public works, construction, landscaping, or utilities
            • Basic knowledge of city infrastructure or utility systems
            • CPR/First Aid certification (preferred)
            Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of:
            • Basic safety practices and PPE requirements
            • General maintenance and construction techniques Skills in:
            • Physical stamina and manual dexterity
            • Communicating effectively with team members
            • Following instructions and attention to detail Ability to:
            • Work outdoors in various weather conditions
            • Learn and apply safety protocols
            • Operate basic tools and equipment with supervision Work Environment
            • Primarily outdoors, exposure to weather, noise, chemicals, and confined spaces
            • Personal protective equipment required as tasks dictate
            • Moderate to loud noise levels
            • Potential electrical hazards
            • Wet/humid conditions and high places may be encountered Physical Demands
            • Frequent use of hands for tools and equipment
            • Standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, crouching, crawling
            Lifting:
            up to 25 lbs frequently; up to 100 lbs with assistance
            • Visual acuity for reading meters and testing samples
            • Ability to perform strenuous outdoor activities Additional Information
