+ Surrounding Suburbs Basic construction experience is required, willing to work with someone who has basic experience, knows their way around tools, has a strong work ethic, and genuinely wants to learn. Reliability matters to us just as much as experience. This is a hands-on position supporting our carpenter throughout all phases of residential remodeling. What We're Looking For Shows up consistently and on time. Has reliable transportation to changing job sites throughout Philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs. Has a valid driver's license. Has previous construction, remodeling, carpentry, maintenance, or other hands-on experience. Knows how to read a tape measure accurately. Is comfortable with basic hand and power tools. Understands the importance of keeping a residential job site clean and organized. Can take direction and then complete a task without constant supervision. Pays attention to how things are being done so they don't need to be shown the same task repeatedly. Isn't afraid of physical work. Takes care of tools and equipment. Communicates when something doesn't look right or when they're unsure. Respects homeowners, their property, our subcontractors, and the rest of the crew. Takes pride in doing things correctly rather than simply getting them done quickly. OSHA-30 Safety Certification is a plus, if not obtained you will be required to complete certification prior to your start date. Fully Reimbursed Upon presenting Completed Course and Certification is received. The work changes depending on the stage of the project, but typical responsibilities may include: Demo

+ Site Prep Assist with selective demolition of drywall, cabinetry, flooring, trim, framing, and fixtures. Protect existing floors, walls, stairs, and finished areas before work begins. Remove nails, screws, fasteners, and remaining debris after demolition. Haul debris and construction materials. Maintain clean pathways and safe working conditions. Assist with daily job-site setup and breakdown. Carpentry

+ Construction Depending on experience, you'll assist with: Measuring, marking, and laying out materials. Basic framing and blocking. Cutting lumber and sheet goods. Installing plywood, drywall backing, nailers, and blocking. Cabinet and built-in installation. Interior trim, baseboard, casing, and other finish carpentry. Door and hardware installation. Drywall preparation and patching. Flooring and other finish installations. Punch-list items and final project details. You'll work directly with the carpenter and gradually take on more responsibility as your skills develop. Tools

+ Materials Candidates should have some familiarity with basic hand and power tools. Experience with any of the following is a plus: Tape measure Level and square Drill/driver and impact driver Circular saw Miter saw Reciprocating saw Oscillating multi-tool Nail guns Shop vac and dust-control equipment Basic hand tools Supporting the Carpenter Having tools and materials ready when they're needed. Staging materials for upcoming work. Keeping cords, tools, and equipment organized. Making sure batteries are charged and tools are put away properly. Cleaning as work progresses rather than waiting until the end of the day. Helping troubleshoot and problem-solve in the field. Making occasional material and supply runs. Preparing work areas for subcontractors and upcoming phases. Learning the sequence of construction so you begin anticipating what needs to happen next. Initiative Matters We're a small company, which means there's rarely a reason to stand around waiting for someone to find something for you to do. Most of our projects take place in occupied residential homes. That means professionalism matters. You'll be expected to: Protect finished surfaces and homeowners' belongings. Maintain a reasonably clean and organized job site. Control dust and debris whenever possible. Communicate professionally around clients. Respect the home and property. Clean up at the end of each workday. Be mindful of inappropriate language on property. Physical Requirements Candidates should be comfortable: Lifting and carrying construction materials. Moving lumber, sheet goods, cabinetry, tools, and debris. Being on their feet for extended periods. Bending, kneeling, climbing stairs, and working from ladders. Working indoors and outdoors depending on the project. Working in the normal dust, noise, temperature, and physical conditions associated with residential remodeling. Schedule Primarily weekday, daytime work. Start times and job locations may vary depending on the project. Dependable attendance and communication are required. Can be expected to arrive at a job site as early as 7am. Weekends are not mandatory but available sometimes when a project needs to meet a timeline. Compensation Based fairly on construction experience and skill level. Someone entering at the lower end of the range may have limited construction experience but should demonstrate reliability, mechanical ability, and a strong willingness to learn. Candidates toward the higher end should already be comfortable with common power tools, measuring and cutting accurately, demolition, basic carpentry tasks, and working productively without constant supervision.
