The Superintendent serves as the primary on-site leader responsible for coordinating field activities, supervising company personnel, managing subcontractors, maintaining project schedules, enforcing safety standards, and ensuring all work meets company quality expectations. This position works closely with Project Managers, owners, architects, engineers, inspectors, and subcontractors to deliver successful projects safely, on schedule, and within budget. The ideal candidate is an experienced construction professional with extensive knowledge of commercial building methods, exceptional leadership abilities, and a commitment to producing high-quality work. Project Leadership Manage all daily field operations on assigned commercial construction projects. Direct and coordinate all on-site construction activities from project start through completion. Develop and maintain daily and short-term work plans to ensure project milestones are achieved. Monitor overall job progress and proactively resolve field issues before they impact schedule or budget. Maintain a professional jobsite that reflects the company's standards of quality and organization. Coordination with Project Management Work closely with Project Managers to understand project scope, schedules, drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and change orders. Communicate daily project status, challenges, manpower needs, and schedule updates. Assist in project planning, sequencing, logistics, and coordination of upcoming work. Identify potential delays and collaborate with the Project Manager to implement solutions. Field Supervision Direct, supervise, and mentor field employees and labor crews. Assign daily work activities and ensure crews remain productive. Monitor workmanship and hold employees accountable for quality and productivity. Maintain positive morale while enforcing company standards and expectations. Subcontractor Management Coordinate all subcontractors to maintain proper sequencing and workflow. Verify subcontractors understand project requirements before work begins. Monitor subcontractor performance, quality, manpower, productivity, and schedule compliance. Resolve field conflicts between trades while maintaining project momentum. Ensure subcontractors comply with safety policies and contract requirements. Scheduling Maintain and drive the construction schedule. Coordinate labor, equipment, inspections, deliveries, and subcontractor activities. Identify critical path items and take corrective action when necessary. Conduct daily and weekly planning meetings with subcontractors. Safety Promote a strong safety culture on every project. Enforce OSHA regulations and company safety policies. Immediately address unsafe conditions or behaviors. Ensure all incidents are properly documented and reported. Quality Control Inspect work for compliance with plans, specifications, building codes, and company quality standards. Ensure deficiencies are corrected promptly. Maintain high standards of workmanship throughout the project. Required Qualifications Minimum 5 years of commercial construction superintendent or equivalent field leadership experience . Extensive knowledge of commercial construction means, methods, sequencing, and building systems. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, shop drawings, and construction documents. Strong understanding of structural, architectural, civil, concrete, steel, carpentry, and MEP coordination. Working knowledge of commercial building codes and OSHA regulations. Proven leadership and supervisory experience managing field personnel and subcontractors. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, inspectors, and project teams. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment. Jobsite Administration Maintain accurate daily reports documenting manpower, weather, progress, deliveries, visitors, inspections, and issues. Coordinate material deliveries and verify proper storage. Track equipment utilization. Assist with project closeout including punch lists, warranties, inspections, and turnover documentation. Physical Requirements Ability to walk active construction sites for extended periods. Ability to climb ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and uneven terrain. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when necessary. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times. Required Certifications & Requirements Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Reliable transportation to assigned job sites. Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening. Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check. OSHA 30-Hour Certification preferred (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
