Full Job Description Job Summary:
In the role of Design Manager, we are looking for an individual with retail design and architecture experience specifically for pre-design, design, programming, planning/entitlement and permitting activities. With experience leading teams of multiple designers, AORs, EORs and consultants. Experience in car wash design is a plus.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Be actively engaged in the due diligence, planning, design and permitting phases for both Greenfield and Acquisition Projects. Manage the design process from concept to completion, ensuring projects stay on schedule. Supervise and train multiple direct reports, setting them up with a solid foundation for positive growth. Ability to engage, coordinate and manage all consultants needed during due diligence, design, planning/entitlement and permitting phases. Ability to partner with in-house AOR, drafters, and engineers and drive planning/entitlement and permitting coordination internally and with consultants. Oversee the production of all project documentation, including specifications, and SOPs with consultant and process management. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of the design process continually updating the process workflows for the design team. Contribute to the development and implementation of design strategies that align with business objectives. Ensure proper reporting and data governance. Communicate succinctly and transparently to all stakeholders. Engage with business line leadership at regular intervals. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Experience with Architects and Engineers of Record; retail design; fixture planning and full permit construction documents are important requirements for this position. o Strong working knowledge of architectural construction drawings. o Understanding of drawings, specifications, project manuals, etc. o Understanding of retail roll outs design and construction programs. o Highly organized with strong analytical skills. o Experience with Procore software desirable. o Experience with Blue Beam used during design reviews desirable. Manage ambiguity and the challenges that arise during the pre-design and design phases If you are tasked to drive as a part of this role, then it is required that you have a clean driving record and a current Driver's License that is not suspended or expired. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. Face to face and/or remote daily interpersonal interaction is usually required in order to perform the job. Role is expected to be Remote Work. Travel is as needed, anticipate less than 15%. EEO-1
