A Construction Site Manager runs day-to-day operations on a construction site and controls the short-term schedule on the site. Also performs important quality control and coordinates subcontractors. Often works in cooperation with construction project manager.
Job Summary We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Excavation Foreman / Site Work Foreman to lead and oversee excavation and site preparation activities on construction projects. This role involves managing crews, coordinating with project teams, ensuring safety compliance, and maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive construction site experience, and a thorough understanding of excavation processes, technical drawings, and construction management software. Your energetic approach will drive project success from start to finish, ensuring deadlines are met while adhering to all safety regulations.
Responsibilitites and Requirements:
Lead and supervise a field crew on commercial and residential excavation projects. Communicate daily with Project Managers and Superintendents regarding project progress, scheduling, material needs, equipment needs, and jobsite concerns. Delegate tasks to crew members and ensure work is completed efficiently and correctly. Hold crew members accountable for following directions, company policies, safety procedures, and jobsite expectations. Read and understand construction plans, blueprints, site plans, and specifications. Ability to lay out and oversee installation of water lines, storm systems, sewer/septic systems, utilities, foundation cuts, grading, and other excavation related work. Knowledge and understanding of excavation procedures, site development, grading, and utility installation. Operaye amd wprl around heavy equipment when necessary. Ability to use and understand construction equipment and tools, including laser levels, jumping jacks, plate compactors, and other jobsite equipment. Coordinate daily activities to ensure the crew, equipment, and materials are being used efficiently. Monitor jobsite conditions and identify potential issues before they affect production safety. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional jobsite. Ensure employees are following required PPE and health and safety regulations. Promote a positive, productive, and respectful work enviroment. Communicate clearly and professionally with employees, management, subcontractors, inspectors, and other individuals involved in the project. Maintain daily awareness of project progress and report important information, concerns, or changes to management. Ability to make decisions in the field while knowing when to communicate issues to management.
Qualifications:
Minimum 3-5 years of excavation or construction experience required. Previous experience leading or supervising a construction crew perferred. Strong knowledge of commercial and residential excavation and site work. Experience with utilities, storm system, sewer/septic, grading, site development, and foundation excavation required. Ability to read and underdtand construction plans and specifications. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage a crew and maintain productivity throughout the workday. Strong attention to detail and ability to plan ahead. Commitment to jobsite safety and company policies. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including standing for extended periods, working outdoors in variois weather conditions, and lifting up to 40 pounds.
