PUBLIC WORKS CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR - SAN DIEGO

Project Professionals Corporation (PPC) is seeking an experienced Public Works Inspector to support municipal and utility infrastructure projects throughout the greater San Diego area. This role is ideal for professionals experienced in inspecting, reporting, and documenting public works infrastructure and civil improvements to ensure quality and compliance with plans, specifications, and city, county, state, and federal standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Oversight Attend pre-construction and weekly progress meetings. Review plans and specifications for constructability. Field Inspection Inspect all public improvement construction for compliance with plans, standards, and regulations. Verify materials and methods meet applicable standards. Monitor safety and traffic control compliance. Monitor water quality control compliance. Documentation & Coordination Prepare daily inspection reports with photos and detailed field notes in compliance with PPC reporting SOP. Track quantities for pay estimates. Document existing conditions and changes for accurate as-built drawings. Coordinate materials and special testing, environmental compliance monitoring, and surveying (if required). Document and report noncompliance and violations. Issue Notices of Correction as directed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

8+ years of public works construction inspection experience. PE, QSP, or Caltrans RE Academy certifications preferred but not required with adequate experience. Strong knowledge of Greenbook, Caltrans specifications and drawings, and San Diego County Regional Standard Drawings. Proficient with inspection and documentation software.
