This position is ideal for someone who has extensive experience reading, interpreting, and working with construction drawings and who understands how information is communicated across different plan disciplines. The ideal candidate has worked with plans from multiple construction trades and industries and can quickly understand drawing sets, identify relevant information, recognize relationships between sheets, and spot inconsistencies or missing information. This role will work closely with our construction technology team to review plan information, validate outputs, establish plan-reading standards, and provide subject-matter expertise as we develop and refine internal technology and processes. Key Responsibilities Review and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, specifications, details, schedules, and related project documents. Analyze complete drawing sets and understand how information carries between different sheets and disciplines. Identify quantities, dimensions, elevations, materials, equipment, structures, utilities, and other construction components shown on plans. Review plans for inconsistencies, conflicts, missing information, and unusual conditions. Assist with quantity takeoffs and verification of takeoff information. Validate plan interpretations and construction data produced through internal processes and technology. Explain how and why specific information was identified within a drawing set. Help establish consistent rules and methodologies for interpreting construction documents. Identify common drawing conventions, symbols, abbreviations, line types, notes, callouts, and details. Compare information across plan sheets, schedules, details, profiles, sections, and specifications. Provide feedback when plan information could reasonably be interpreted in multiple ways. Work closely with construction and technology personnel to improve the accuracy and reliability of internal systems. Test and evaluate developing tools and workflows using real-world construction documents. Document plan-reading logic, exceptions, and industry-specific conventions. Assist in developing internal standards and quality-control procedures. Desired Plan Experience We are particularly interested in candidates with experience reading plans across multiple disciplines , including: Civil / Site Development Underground Utilities Water, Sanitary & Storm Sewer Earthwork & Grading Roadway / Transportation Electrical Plumbing Mechanical / HVAC Structural Architectural Landscaping Irrigation Concrete Demolition Excavation Fencing General Construction Experience in every discipline is not required . Candidates with broad exposure to multiple types of construction documents are strongly preferred. Qualifications Strong ability to read and interpret complex construction drawings. Significant experience working directly with blueprints, plans, specifications, or construction documents. Ability to navigate large, multi-discipline plan sets efficiently. Strong understanding of construction terminology, symbols, scales, dimensions, elevations, sections, profiles, details, schedules, and specifications. Experience performing or reviewing construction quantity takeoffs is strongly preferred. Ability to identify relationships and dependencies between different plan sheets and disciplines. Exceptional attention to detail. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to explain plan interpretations and construction concepts clearly to individuals who may not have the same level of field or estimating experience. Comfortable working with PDF-based construction drawings and digital plan-review software. Ability to recognize when information is ambiguous rather than making unsupported assumptions. Comfortable working in a technology-focused environment and testing new processes and tools. Preferred Background Candidates may come from a variety of construction backgrounds.
