Job Description

Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Directional Drill Operator to join our Team. This position involves operating directional drilling equipment to install fiber optic cables underground. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work in various field conditions.
Job Responsibilities:
Directional Drilling:
Operate and maintain directional drilling equipment to install fiber optic cables underground.
Pre-Drilling Surveys:
Conduct pre-drilling surveys to determine the appropriate drilling path and identify potential obstacles or hazards.
Utility Location:
Ensure all utilities in the construction path are located and accounted for before drilling.
Equipment Maintenance:
Perform regular maintenance on drilling equipment, including fluid checks and visual inspections.
Safety Compliance:
Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies to ensure a safe work environment.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of drilling activities, including daily logs and equipment maintenance reports.
Communication:
Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and clients to ensure project requirements are met.
Training:
Provide training and assistance to coworkers as needed.
Physical Abilities:
Strength:
Ability to lift and/or carry up to 75 lbs. multiple times during a work shift.
Endurance:
Capable of working at a sustained pace and producing quality work for long periods.
Flexibility:
Ability to climb, dig, work in tight spaces, walk on uneven surfaces, stoop, kneel, bend, twist, and push/pull.
Environmental Tolerance:
Ability to work outside in all types of environmental conditions, including adverse weather.
Safety Compliance:
Ability to identify and correct unsafe conditions and comply with drug/alcohol-free policies.
Medical Requirements:
Ability to obtain a DOT medical card.
Qualifications:
Experience:
Previous experience in directional drilling and fiber optic installation is preferred.
Skills:
Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to operate heavy equipment. Ability to read and understand plans
Licenses:
Valid Driver's License; CDL A with tanker endorsement is preferred.
Work Ethic:
Strong work ethic, excellent attendance, and accountability for conduct.
Teamwork:
Ability to work well independently and as part of a team. Travel 2-4 hours from Bemidji, Mn.
Job Type:
Full-time Pay:
$26.00 - $32.00 per hour
