Classroom Helper - Part-Time Contract Position Modern Learning Association (MLA) is a small nonprofit alternative learning center located in Derry, New Hampshire. We provide students with a supportive, individualized learning environment where children can learn at their own pace, build independence, and feel successful in their education. We are looking for a kind, patient, dependable Classroom Helper to join us during the school day. This is not a traditional teaching position, and no teaching degree is required. Our Classroom Helper serves as an extra set of hands in the learning space, supporting students and helping our day run smoothly.

Responsibilities may include:

Helping students understand or clarify directions Answering basic questions and providing academic support when needed Reading with students or providing one-on-one assistance Encouraging students and helping them remain focused and on task Assisting with group activities, projects, art, STEM, and other hands-on learning Supervising students during classroom activities, lunch, recess, and transitions Helping with basic classroom organization and cleanup Providing patient, positive support to students with a variety of learning styles and needs Providing substitute coverage when the Main Guide is absent, including supervising students and helping maintain the normal daily schedule and learning routine We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with children and is patient, encouraging, reliable, comfortable taking initiative, and willing to jump in wherever help is needed . Experience working with children is a plus, but formal teaching experience is not required.

Schedule:

Monday-Thursday Hours:

Approximately 12-24 hours per week

Shift Options:

9:00 AM-12:00 PM and/or 9:00 AM-3:00

Based on experience and agreed-upon hourly rate This is a contracted position. Taxes will not be withheld from compensation, and the contractor is responsible for their own applicable taxes. A background check is required. MLA is a nonprofit organization, and our small environment allows our team to truly get to know and support each student.
