Job Description

Under the direction of the Director of Facilities, the Electrician performs skilled electrical work in the installation, maintenance, repair and replacement of electrical systems and equipment in District buildings and facilities; and performs related duties as assigned. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other related duties may be assigned. Install, inspect, service, maintain, repair, troubleshoot and replace electrical systems and equipment including heating and air conditioning controls, interior and exterior conduit, primary lighting and power systems and circuits, master clock, emergency lighting systems, motors and fans, control equipment, switches, electrical panels, alarm systems and power equipment and tools; determine cause of and remedy electrical failures. Prepare and adhere to a schedule of periodic electrical system inspections and preventative maintenance; evaluate and make recommendations on energy saving devices. Maintain records and order supplies and equipment as necessary; confer with vendors to procure necessary parts. Operate a variety of inspection, diagnostic and repair tools and equipment. Install and maintain a variety of outdoor lighting units and scoreboards; install office and classroom wiring panel boards, transformers, substation and control wiring for various systems. Serve as project leader for the electrical work of any construction or remodel project. Assist in performing other skilled maintenance duties as required. Perform related duties as assigned.
Any combination equivalent to:
graduation from high school, journey-level training as an electrician and two (2) years of responsible experience as a journey-level electrician.
