Job Description

Overview Cal Valley Electric is seeking an experienced and dependable Journeyman Electrician to join our growing team. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, takes pride in quality workmanship, and can work independently or as part of a crew. This position will involve commercial and industrial electrical work at various job sites. The right candidate must be reliable, professional, and able to complete assigned work efficiently while following all applicable electrical codes and safety requirements. Responsibilities Install, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair industrial and commercial electrical systems using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment such as ohmmeters. Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings to accurately execute wiring layouts and system configurations. Perform high-voltage electrical wiring and low-voltage system installations in accordance with NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) standards and local electrical codes. Diagnose electrical issues using advanced troubleshooting techniques to identify faults in complex systems including programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and industrial electrical equipment. Ensure all work complies with electrical safety procedures, NEC (National Electrical Code), NFPA 70 compliance standards, and other relevant safety protocols. Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and team members during construction or renovation projects to ensure timely completion of electrical tasks. Maintain detailed documentation of work performed, including inspection reports, wiring diagrams, and compliance records. Requirements Proven experience as a Journeyman Electrician with a strong background in industrial and commercial electrical systems. Extensive knowledge of electrical diagnostics, troubleshooting electrical systems, and reading electrical schematics/blueprints. Hands-on experience with high-voltage wiring, low-voltage systems, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and industrial electrical components. Familiarity with NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code), NEC standards, local electrical codes, and safety procedures related to electrical work. Ability to use hand tools such as wire strippers, pliers, screwdrivers; power tools; ohmmeters; and other diagnostic equipment effectively. Construction site experience including renovation projects or new installations in industrial or commercial environments. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex electrical issues efficiently.
