Airfield Electrician /
Crew Lead Location:
Colorado State (Travel Required)
Pay Rate:
$33.45/hr + $7.58/hr Fringe pay

Required (Hotels, meals, drive time paid) Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Airfield Electrician / Crew Lead to lead and support the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of airfield lighting systems on active and restricted-access airports across Colorado. This is a hands-on leadership role combining electrical work, heavy equipment operation, and crew coordination in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment. This position is ideal for an electrician or utility professional with strong field experience who enjoys leading crews, operating equipment, and seeing projects through from start to finish. Key Responsibilities Lead and support installation of runway, taxiway, and airfield lighting systems, including illuminated signage Install and oversee conduit systems, duct banks, and light cans Perform series and parallel circuit wiring, including temporary lighting systems Set light cans and coordinate alignment and grade with field crews and operators Install airfield signage and foundations (including concrete work as needed) Troubleshoot existing electrical systems at smaller airfields and during maintenance work Tie into existing electrical infrastructure by identifying circuits, conduit paths, and utilities Lead daily pre-work meetings and manage production for crews of 4-6 Read and interpret plans, specs, and grade stakes (tenths & hundredths required) Complete accurate digital daily reports, quantities, and documentation Maintain strict safety standards in active and restricted-access airfields Required Qualifications 4+ years field electrical experience (utility or transportation preferred) Comfortable leading crews and managing daily production Experience with series & parallel circuits and constant current systems Experience with conduit, duct banks, and light can installations Willing to travel regularly across Colorado Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions Own basic hand and power tools (impact, socket set, cutters, levels, sledge) Preferred / Nice-to-Have Colorado Journeyman Electrician License Prior airfield lighting or street lighting experience Experience with constant current regulators (CCRs) Class A CDL Digger derrick experience Experience in small, hands-on civil or electrical contractors Why Work With Us Small, tight-knit contractor focused on airfield and transportation lighting Gain hours towards your apprenticeship Strong culture of internal growth (laborer → operator → crew lead) Prevailing wage projects Company-paid hotels, meals, and drive time Leadership works in the field alongside crews Opportunity to make a real impact on public infrastructure and regional airports Long-term opportunity—not short-term staffing Work Environment Active and restricted-access airports throughout Colorado Travel projects in Loveland, Fort Collins, Greeley, Fort Morgan, La Junta, and more Outdoor, field-driven work in varying weather conditions Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Colorado Springs, CO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $33.45 - $33.45/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
